Location of the main Simlympic park area is a really important aspect of any bid. I'm interested to hear you guy's thoughts on the best locations, why you chose the location you chose, etc. Smile

well personally I think the location has to be easily accessable and maybe in a prominant location as the Simlympic Park is going to be a legacy.also a good choice is an abbondoned ortion of a city or run down area as it can revitalize a city.

in choosing Laval's Park I chose the site of the old Laval Airport an area of abondonment and somewhat centrally located for the Greater Laval/Lakeshore Region of Marceau. From there the park kinda turned it's self into what it was and actually forced some changes in the areas nearby to help beautify the city as a whole pre simlymic bid Laval was a nice place to visit but it wasn't as appealing to the eye.

I think another key to good location is Transit networks nearby

i think that simplympics parks should be:

1. accessible by any transport
2. next to a river or lake(i think that it makes the bid more pleasing to the eye)
3. located near a major airport and downtown

I think the simlympic park should be in the shadow of the city makes it more eye catching to see your park sitting beneath a beautiful skyline its truly the thing that makes the olympic park great

i think that the simlympic park should be the centerpiece of your city, or if that's not possible, then it should be eyecatching even from the region view. and i agree with everyone, how it should be next to a major transit network, body of water(always appealing lol), and near a downtown or airport. but the simlympic village should also be within a couple of miles. Very Happy

Well, my bid's Simlympic Stadium is going to be built on what *used* to be a park. The ground will be elevated by 4.5 meters, to provide space for the waterfalls that saround it. It also features lakes! It is situated in a downtown area of Ylmeria, and many high-rise building saround it! Ylmeria has 9 metro lines and 15 elevated rail lines, as well as about 95 bus lines plus a suburban railway, so its quite easy to get around, to and from the park!

Holidia's future park is bulit on farmland and what (was) europe's most secure prison from the 1960s until it's closure in 2002. Located two miles from the old city and seven miles from the city centre. It is also located 3 miles from Dubfast's Casino Quarter!!! Although it is on the edge of the city surronded by farmland and villages.

I think that the Simlympic Park should be in a prominent location. I personally prefer to have them in a central location near transport, CBD and parkland. I usually chose old industrial areas or a run-down area to start a gentrification project.

In Raffore Islands, our definition of a Simlympic Park is a park that consist of major sporting arenas, just like what Raffore Islands is doing to Sports Hub, the main area bidding for the April Simlympics.

The problem is, due to lack of land space and the extremely high land property value, the Sports Hub have to be small, same goes to the Simlympics Park. As most of you guys brought up, the stadias at the Sports Hub is too packed. Unfortunately, the Government can't do anything.

Sad.

I reckon it should be close to the CBD, so that athletes and tourists can easily watch the games and explore the city without having to do a long trip. Furthermore, there should be good public transport links connecting the park to the rest of the city. Not only is this good for the environment but it is an effeicient and traffic-free method of moving around the huge influx of people that the games will bring. Furthermore, being close to a river or the sea, does make the area much more aesthetically pleasing. There should also be a quick and easy route from the simlympic park to the simlympic village, two areas which need to be reasonably close and very well connected.
