Information

Post by Guest on Fri Mar 13, 2009 12:12 pm

Information

Escambia 2009 is working with our local and national business communities to create the greenest Simlympic bid ever. With a series of Green Urban Centers located around the city’s potential Simlympic Venues, we plan on demonstrating Escambia’s commitment to climate action and creating an environmental legacy for generations to come.

Escambia is built on a bold tradition of dreams that we turn into reality. In the words of Daniel Burnham, the pioneering architect of the World's Columbian Exposition who embodies the spirit of Escambia, "Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood. Make big plans; aim high in work and hope. Remember that our children and grandchildren are going to do things that will amaze us." As the grandchildren and great grandchildren of the Burnham generation, it is our time to build a legacy for Escambia that will stand the test of time for the next 100 years.

Our vision is intended to stir the soul of the world: The Escambia 2009 Simlympic and Simparalympic Games will use sport as a catalyst to demonstrably strengthen the Simlympic Movement. Our Games will inspire young and old, Escambians and citizens around the world.

With our plan for a compact Games and Escambia's accessible world-class infrastructure and enthusiastic multicultural community, athletes and the world will come together to rejoice in sport and strengthen the Simlympic movement.

Saathoff asked for it to be moved as he intends to change it a bit then rebid next time around, I believe?

But I moved it so that the bid is still in the 'April 2009 Past Bids' section too.
