In Memory of Lisa Darling Empty In Memory of Lisa Darling

Post by Guest Thu Mar 19, 2009 11:01 am

Hey Everyone at SimSports. I know the name Lisa Darling doesn't mean much to you. But she is a student here in Humboldt. The daughter of our new superintendent. Yesterday evening she collapsed, and was unable to breath. She was then life flighted to Des Moines, IA. This evening she was able to have a heart beat on her own. Doctors didnt know what was wrong, but noticed bleeding in the brain. At 2:30pm Lisa died after being taken of life support. Sad This the school's third death this year.. First was girl in 10th Grade getting killed in a car crash, then another 10th grader suddenly died a month later with no apperent reason. And Lisa an 8th Grader died today of an unknown reason.. I thought i'd share this with everyone.. Our community is deeply saddened. Its not easy having 3 student deaths in one year. I hope everyone that reads this will keep the Darling family in there prayers..

May Lisa Rest In Peace Crying or Very sad

I know your pain man, in my 4 years of high school.

Freshman year
School Resource officer was shot by her crazed ex boy friend she was 30
Senior died in an ATV accident he was 17
Wrestling Coach died in a house fire that some of his former wrestlers ended up as the first responders to

After students report to school despite townwide power outage and are left on the front lawn in pouring rain in early June no confidence vote fails on superintendent

Sophmore Year
Band and Orchestra dirrector died of Lukemia after a year long battle

10th grader is stabbed by a classmate in gym over a fight about a hacksack, student receives 5 stitches in arm

Crazed senior plans a colombine recreation gets caught 2 days before with a hitlist of 25 students mostly black, latino and homosexual or of personal grievance to the student. In his house 14 automatic rifles, and 5 pipe bombs are found. My high school ends up on ABC Nightly news. Student now is in juvenile detention center serving 25 years

Our school went from the top 100 best public high schools in the country to the bottom 25 in the country in 1 year

Junior year
Secretary in the main office dies suddenly of a heart attack

A student teacher on the third floor suffers a seizure but thankfully survives

A new gym teacher in her 20's has a massive stroke, is still in rehab for it

Superintendents wife, a teacher in the high school is diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Freshman girls soccer coach arrested on sexual assault charges after getting into a fight with a parent after a game and kids coming froward.

Senior year
Former student and older brother of a senior is murdered by his girl friend on negligence after she left him after he stopped breathing due to an OD

Sophomore who was raped by a former student attempts suicide by drinking herself to death survives

Sophomore runs away from home is found 3 days latter in the next town with a 1ft tall marijuana plant in an unregistered vehicle

Freshman girl is rapped by best friend (male) while on a trip to Salt Lake City

Superintendents wife dies from Breast Cancer

Needless to say its been a trying four years and I understand your pain, the silver lining is the students are getting a first hand look at how crappy life can get and it's making them stronger people because of it. In a lot of ways the closest we've been as a town is through these tough times. In the past four years we've had so many job openings because of teachers leaving due to the total disaster that has been the school. We have yet to recover from our top 100 to bottom 25 drop but we've improved into the top 200 in the state. And for all those bad we've had a lot of good lately.

Our school was featured in a local CBS affiliates high school pep rally event and we had over 1000 students over 5 times the number of any other school (they've had weekly running of this all school year) show up at 4 AM for the live broadcast

The Varsity football team pulled off an amazing upset to get into the state finals only to loose

The Band, Orchestra and Chorus sweep all but 1 event at a northern states championship event and orchestra receives top instrumental group in the tournament, Jazz band is ranked 7th Nationaly

Boys Volley Ball wins there first state championship
Girls Basketball heads to the state Semi finals
Boys Hockey goes to state finals
Golf team wins team 4th place in the state
Golf team captain wins National championship
Local dance team wins hip hop dance international championships in Germany
Freshman girl wins New England Poetry out loud contest
Band places no lower than 3rd at Parades around CT for 2 years straight (ranked second as a parade band in the state)

So as bad as things do look the good news is karma always has a way of righting itself. A wave of greatness is soon to follow the tragedy it always dose

we're slightly larger we're what CT has as an L school with LL, L, MM, M, S, SS (LL being the largest) so my school has 1500 students and faculty in it with about 5,000 students and faculty in the district. 29,000 in the town

I'm very sorry to hear this It's a shame when things like this happen

at my high school alot happened but it was such a big school it was like a university so we didn't always hear everything. the campus enrolment is listed at 5100 between 3 schools(you have a home school and go to classes in all 3 which are a short walk between them all)
