Changes to national Simlympic Banners
As some of you may know, the existing Simlympic banners were only intended as a temporary solution until the Bells & Whistles Department came up with something useful. Eight Simlympics later nothing has happened, so myself and Slacker decided to do something about it instead. And so, I give you the new and improved Simlympic Banners, for use in all results displays across both the summer and, now, winter games.
We think our records are correct, but even so, could you all please check your nation's banner to see whether we have the correct country name, flag, 3-letter NSC code, and union affiliation. The Olympic flag shown on a lot of banners indicates we don't have your flag.

Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
Nice.
Here's some are changes you have to do:
1) Change Raffore Islands' NSC code to RFI
2) Transfer Novland to COFR
3) Transfer the following nations to Alliance of Independent Nations:
4) List Raffore Islands under COFR and AIN*
*Raffore Islands is a member to both COFR and AIN. By doing this, it could prevent any conflicts between COFR and AIN and to assure fairness

Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
ok but which do you want to be listed in for competition? We base medal counts etc... off that
and joe for Rorysville one minor change the NSC code is RRV

In all future competition, Raffore Islands will be listed under COFR and AIN to be fair to these two unions.
Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
I think the point is you can't represent two unions any more than you can represent two countries. Pick one, or neither.
All the other changes have been made, btw.

Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
just to re-itterate what joe said and site an example
the issue creeps in though with tabulating medal tallies if your listed in 2 unions both unions get your count.I know your in both for fairness but with that said an example is if we ever go to a qualication setup for team sports you can't play in both brackets cause the brakets would likely be geo/union based(ok abstract thought but I know the SIIHF uses this for it's world Championships)

If that's the case, then put Raffore Islands under COFR. Sorry AIN.
Can someone clarify this anyway? Cuz, if I'm not wrong, Raffore Islands is the first nation to be under 2 unions.
All the other changes have been made, btw.
Erm...you have not change Raffore Islands' NSC code to RFI
Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
Btw, since Czech Rep., Italy, Japan, Australia and USA can join the Simlympics, can other real world nations join the Simlympics?
Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
yes you are the first to bridge 2 unions at once
and if your CJ/Nation is named one of teose then yes I guess they could those members signed up as those nations

I'm not a fan of using a real country's name in the Simlympics. Smacks of a lack of creativity to me. For instance, instead of "Japan", I'd try old or alternate names, like Nippon, Nihon, Cipangu, Yamato, Hinomoto, Zeppen, Giapan...

Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
But then, are real world nations allowed to participate the simlympics?

Aranho wrote:But then, are real world nations allowed to participate the simlympics?
No there is no REAL world nations as I said
those who named their countries that are who signed up in the case of United States it could be anything remember United States is not exclusive to America I've seen United States of Insert name here on quite a few nations in my time on the boards in Simland.I much like joe think it smacks of lack of creativity to just take a name of a country.in all reality some of those members haven't even visited heer or likely any of the threads on the other sites devoted top the simlympics since they've signed up.

Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
The Shalman Imperial Code is IMS so can someone please change it? Thanks
Re: Changes to national Simlympic Banners
I'm trying to stay away from anything listing a form of government in the name, since the Olympics, and Simlympics, are supposed to be independent of politics. You case is similar to the UK, who appear as Great Britain (the name of the country), rather than the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is both a mouthful and the official name. You could still use something like KAE for your NSC code, similar to how Saudi Arabia uses KSA, or South Africa uses RSA.Orchid22 wrote:Can Aeropoli be changed to Aeropolitan Kingdom?
