Jesus...this forum is more active than I thought. Everyone is making request already. Thanks BTW. Couple of ideas in my mind now. I thinking doing another stadium set (a simplypic village)with a main stadium, an indoor one, and a swimming area. of course the list can go on. The architecture style will be consistent. The set will be a similar idea of the Shenzhen Universiade Stadium set.
These stadiums will be my original design, but I can draw inspiration and references from real life stadium design too. So if anyone of you have any great ideas, welcome to post them here.

Thanks for posting all those David, they're simply outstanding.

If you need ideas on what sort of stadium to do next, I could list every event we don't have one for. Its not a short list though Wink

Hii David! Your name immediately jumped in my eye, lol, so had to visit Wink Your work so far really has been amazing, nice to see them all lined up!

I personally would like to see some more tennis-venues. You know, like Wimbledon or something... Smile The ones available are rather small and ugly... I know you did one but well, can't go far with 1 :p Also some venues for winter sports would be a fabulous addition Smile (These are suggestions, not requests :p)

Anyway, keep up the good work! You know I love you, err, your work ;p xx

Well, don't say you weren't warned Wink

NB: these are sports without dedicated Olympic-standard facilities. Some can be housed in existing BATs with a little imagination, while the rest need the help of photoshop atm. Like Carmine said, some of the existing BATs may be less than ideal, but I figure we get a full set before we start reinventing the wheel. Smile

Summer
Archery
Beach Volleyball
BMX
Slalom Canoeing/Kayaking
Flatwater Canoeing/Kayaking/Rowing (more a set of parts I'd imagine)
Cycling Velodrome
Equestrian Centre (for Dressage & Showjumping in particular)
Hockey (easier way would be to convert a small football stadium)
Sailing (not entirely sure what would be good here...)
Shooting Range

Winter
Ski Runs (Downhill, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G)
Biathlon/Cross Country Skiing Course
Bobsleigh/Luge/Skeleton Chute
Ski Jump Ramps
Freestyle Aerials Jumps
Moguls Run
Ski/Snowboard Cross Run
Snowboard Halfpipe
Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom Run

and any other bits and pieces you can think of, like standalone start/finish lines, grandstands, flame cauldrons etc. The others we already have BATs for (several of which are yours anyway).

I imagine there is a bit of fun there not just for David, but for any other BATters looking on Smile

Post by dmscopio@msn.com Tue Jul 28, 2009 10:42 pm

OMG this is truly a long list. I will look into it and see what i can do. So far I can highlight the ones I plan to BAT:

Summer
Archery
Beach Volleyball
BMX
Slalom Canoeing/Kayaking
Flatwater Canoeing/Kayaking/Rowing (more a set of parts I'd imagine)
Cycling Velodrome
Equestrian Centre(for Dressage & Showjumping in particular)
Hockey (easier way would be to convert a small football stadium)
Sailing (not entirely sure what would be good here...)
Shooting Range

Winter
Ski Runs (Downhill, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G)
Biathlon/Cross Country Skiing Course
Bobsleigh/Luge/Skeleton Chute
Ski Jump Ramps
Freestyle Aerials Jumps
Moguls Run
Ski/Snowboard Cross Run
Snowboard Halfpipe
Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom Run

I am not sure about the other ones....most of them are outdoor sport and dont really a building for that. A prop set should be enough i guess. I will look into that to see if there is other good design for those sports them. The Ski Jump Ramps will be an interesting one, I believe. Zaha Hadid has designed a great ski ramp somewhere as i remember.

And some of these can share a same multifunctional sport facility such as the ice hockey and oval area.

I'd be very inclined to see you do a ski jump ramp I actually have a BAter working on a modular lug etrack at the moment and I agree with some of the outdoor events a prop set or ploppable mayor mode props would probally be a good idea

I think the Velodrome can be left off that list same with rowing and sailing. Most of us have used one of the many arenas as Velodromes and anything really circular fits. Sailing and rowing are easy, for sailing anything with an ocean works and rowing the canal packs work well.

The one thing I think that would really really work well for a lot of these though are just a good set of plopable stands we can put around say a rowing area or along a beach for volleyball and sailing, or even around a the one field hockey field that's on the STEX already. I think an equestrian stadium would be great and the plopable stands mixed with maybe plopable archery and shooting set ups to go with it would alow us to make more creative venues and maybe keep things easier for you.

As for the winter... have at it we need all the help we can get.

:O dmscopio!

As everyone else has said, your bats are amazing. A quick look back at the venues used in each of the past Simlympics proves that. Your stadiums have helped make the Simlympics a possibility - so a huge thank you Smile.

I'll leave the requests to everyone else, it looks like you have enough to keep you busy until 2010 as it is Razz.

The plopable stand is a good idea, i did something like this long time ago:

Maybe i can create something similar?

Plopable stands would be a fantastic solution. At the moment we have events like rowing, equestrian, volleyball without any space for spectators, but plopable stands would bring an end to that.

Perhaps a set; Straight, corner, end, etc - allowing users to piece together the stands in whatever way they see fit.
