Post by Aranho Sun Apr 05, 2009 7:24 am

Mike: Good evening to all of the home viewers watching this. You are now watching the live coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Tourist City Simlympics April 2009. I'm your commentator, Mike.
Alex: And this is Alex. Good evening to you all out there.
Mike: It's now 7:58 pm Singapore time and it could be any moment now before the opening ceremony for the 9th Simlympiad begins.
Alex: Yup, it certainly is. Raffore Islands' journey to the 9th Simlympiad is one tough jounrey.
Mike: No doubt about that, despite having Escambia as the other bidder for the 9th Simlympiad.
Alex: And Escambia's bid is definately tough for Raffore Islands as Escambia's is more spacious.
Mike: At first, when I compare both ofthe bids, I thought that Escambia would win the rights to host the 9th Simlympiad.
Alex: Well, it was a close fight.
Mike: And I heard that Raffore Islands will plan something special for Escambia.
Alex: I really wonder what it is...
Mike: Oh. The stadium lights have dimmed. The opening ceremony is about to begin.
Alex: So all of you viewers out there, enjoy the opening ceremony.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Let the countdown to the opening ceremony begins in 30, 29...

11, 10...

Let the ceremony begins!

[Fireworks then starts to pop in the clear night sky]
Day 1: Opening Ceremony Stadiumfirework

Alex: Wow. That was certainly a great way to get the people pumped up for the opening ceremony.
Mike: Yes it is.

[Tons of laser then begins to fly around the stadium, forming different formations everytime]

Alex: Cool. Raffore Islands really plan such fantastic shows.
Mike: Yes. It's all colourful. I wonder what's next.

The lasers then slowly form a shape of the Malaysian Peninsular without Raffore Islands
Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the first performance; the Birth of the Child.
[The lasers then fade away to reveal the dancers lying face down on the ground forming the outline of the Malaysian Peninsular]
Day 1: Opening Ceremony 3411928961_bb747717ea_o
[Meanwhile, a soothing music is being played]
[The dancers then slowly rise up and dances around the stadium gracefully]
[The dancers then form the Union Jack]
[The dancers then form the American Flag]
[The dancers then move graciously across the stadium to form the outline of the Malaysian Peninslar with Raffore Islands in sight]

Mike: A good way to showcase the history of Raffore Islands.
Alex: That's right. This first performance basically showcasing the change of colonial power prior to the formation of the state of Raffore Islands as the 51st state of the United States of America. Raffore Islands is actually a reclamation plan by the British, which later been taken over by the Americans due to poor financialing of the reclamation project by the British.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the second performance; The Child's Maturity.
[The war siren sounded and the dancers of the previous performance "evacuated" by running out of the "stage"]
[Meanwhile, the stadium floodlights dimmed as the war siren sound echoes into the darkness]
[Out of the blue, there was an explosion in a form of a firework]
[Immediately after the explosion, the floodlights focus to the center of the stadium as an American musical rock band, Fall Out Boy, played couple of their songs]
[The crowd then cheered wildly for Fall Out Boy]
[When the band begun playing, hip hops dancers run into the stadium carrying "weapons" as in styrofoam clubs, plastic bottles with a simulated fire buring inside it {to represent Molotov Cocktails} and styrofoam broken chair legs. Some of the hip hop dancers also dress as either the police or the army]
[The dancers then react the scenes of the Raffore Civil War by making the "rioting civilians" "clashing" with the "police" and the "army"]
[The dancers then "change their outfit" by flipping the flaps sewn into their costumes to either dressing in red or blue]
[The blue dancers then form a flag of the United Nations while the red form the "Hammer and Sickle"]
[Both the red and blue dancers then run towards each other, forming the outline of Raffore Islands]
[The blue dancers then slowly "change their outfit" to red in color starting from the border with the other red dancers, making the "wave of changing the costume" through to the edge of Raffore Islands outline]
[After everyone "change" to red, all of the dancers, in unison, "change" to the design of the Flag of the People's Republic of Raffore Islands {Communist Raffore Islands}]
Day 1: Opening Ceremony 3411929053_d15e7706d3_o

Mike: Interesting performance. Depicting the troubled period of Raffore Islands.
Alex: Exactly. We have the Raffore Civil War and the Raffore War, both of the events which shaped Raffore Islands to turn communist at that time.
Mike: As with Fall Out Boy's rock songs as the music background, it just pumped us up and giving us the mood of the feelings faced during the troubled period.
Alex: It sure definately is. Now, let's go back to the live coverage of the Opening Ceremony.

Day 1: Opening Ceremony Empty Part 2

Post by Aranho Sun Apr 05, 2009 7:26 am

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the third performance; Child's New Friend.
[With a cleared stadium, the floodlights dimmed and a video is being played {with only black and white and vintage color} on the stadium's ground facing all four directions {meaning that there are 4 videos playing the same film}]
[The video starts of with Mao Zedong appointing Li Heping as the new leader of Raffore Islands.
It then show Heping giving a speech in Chinese-accented English about Raffore Islands severing all ties with every countries of the world except South East Asian countries and Japan.
It then shows Heping walking around Raffore Islands, viewing the conditions of the people living in slums during Heping's rule of Raffore Islands and showing Heping changing tons of the country's policy and law to help improve the living conditions of Raffore Islands.
The film then shows the people all happy with the change of the living conditions and the people demanding for proper healthcare, education, housing and other basic stuff.
It then show Heping travelling to Singapore by ferry and meeting the then Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kwan Yew.
The film then ends with a speech given by Li Heping of the merger of Raffore Islands into Singapore as one country.]
[Dancers with inflated props then enters the stadium with the different achievements {Tourist City, Racial Harmony, National Service, high-rise residential building, industrial seaport, Senoko International Airport, etc.} made by Li Heping during under the merger period]
[A person impersonating Li Heping and the real Lee Kwan Yew appear into the stadium and walk towards the center of the stadium]
[The audience the cheered wildly]
["Li Heping" then gave the most famous speech {the cut-downed version}]
"Li Heping": Dear citizens of Raffore Islands. This man, the Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Kwan Yew, has helped Raffore Islands turned from a communist country into a democratic country. This man specially helps to groom the Child into a developed nation we have today. This man helps our child to step out into the ever changing and tough world. This man when into the extra mile to help change our country to what it is now. So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today, on June the first 1993, the State of Raffore Islands will now be an independent sovereign state of Raffore Islands. On this day, this is where the child will split from its parents and step into the international stage. On this day! We shall be independent!
[The audience and dancers then cheered wildly with tears of national pride running down their cheeks]
[Immediately after the speech, there was a firework display]

Mike: Now that is what I call national pride.
Alex: Very true. The citizens of Raffore Islands sure are proud of their Child, which is Raffore Islands.
Mike: The speech is also very touching, am I right?
Alex: It sure it. Everyone is like basically crying with joy. If you look at the close up of Lee Kwan Yew's eyes right now, you will be able to see tears.
Mike: It certainly is a great moment. This Simlympics is certainly a great way for Raffore Islands to showcase their national pride, especially in times of trouble right now.
Alex: Now let's go back to the ceremony.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the fourth and final performance; Child's Goal towards Global Recognition.
[The stadium floodlights then dim]
[Sounds of drums was then bing played and the whole stadium is litted]
[The dancers then appear again with inflated props with the different achievements {Tourist City International Airport, E!City, Sports Hub, Global Trading Hub, Spaceport, etc.} after the independence of Raffore Islands]
[The inflated props was then deflated and the dancers form the Olympic Ring]
[An aircraft made by the government-owned company Rasa, the Pelican, then flew over and into the stadium]
[The Pelican then pick up the Olympic Ring and slowly lift it up in the air]
[Co-currently, the mini stage that Fall Out Boy is on then lifted slowly with the same speed as the speed the Pelican is lifting the Olympic Rings into the air]
[The mini stage turns out to be an inflated globe and the Olympic Ring is rised into the air at full view of everyone]
Day 1: Opening Ceremony 3412735312_cbf28ae2ff_o
[There was a firework display in the midnight sky]

Mike: Now that is what I call unique.
Alex: It certainly is. I believe this is the first time a vehicle has been used to lift up the Olympic Ring.
Mike: Yup, it is. Now, we will go for a commercial break and then we will be back for the second part of the live coverage of the Opening Ceremony. Stay tuned.

Day 1: Opening Ceremony Xin_07208050900183121048117

Slacker:
Thanks for welcoming me to Tourist City here tonight on this very special occasion.

I'd like to start by thanking everyone who has worked tirelessly in these past few weeks to prepare Tourist City for the world coming to it's doors over these next 14 days. I'd also like to thank the ISC who have worked equally hard in preparing a lot of stuff behind the scenes to ensure we put on the best games for you, the spectators.

'Huge Family, One Game' is the slogan that you will see all through Raffore Islands; upon billboards, on the sides of buildings, on the lips of children as they watch their heroes competing for a medal. A slogan has never been so fitting for a Simlympics as this one. As our World is in the midst of economic crisis, it's a perfect opportunity for sport to do what sport does best; unite the people. As one huge family during these games, we can do just that. And perhaps for the next two weeks, Tourist City will be a shining beacon to the rest of humanity.

Thank you and enjoy the games.

[The crowd then gave a round of applause]
Announcer: Thank you Mr. Slacker. The President of the Organizing Committee of Tourist City 2009 and the Prime Minister of Raffore Islands, James Wee Hsien Koh, shall now give a speech. Mr. Wee, please.

James:
Good evening Slacker, President of the International Simlympics Committee, Representative of several nations, distinguish guests, distinguish athletics and citizens of Raffore Islands. Welcome to the Opening Ceremony of the Ninth Simlympiad. It has been a long journey for Raffore Islands, our Child, to walk the tough journey into the world, and she never gives up. She gave all her best to achieve what she wanted, and that is to host the Simlympics. And she did. And to thank all of us for your support, she has given us the most spectacular Opening Ceremony you can ever imagine.

Huge family, one game. That is the slogan for this installment of the Simlympics. All of us here, whether we are athletics, or just visitors, or just a citizen of Raffore Islands, we are one big family. And a family does not have any comflicts amongst one another, and that is our aim for this Simlympics. We shall compete with great sportsmanship, great friendship and never let evil truimph over us. And we shall enjoy ourselves during this whole 16 days of the Simlympics. The former Shalman Empire, now the Shalman Commonwealth, all of the other hosts, have given us their best performance during the Simlympics, and we shall do the same. Even if we either win or lose, we all know that we have given our best. Most importantly, remember to have fun So let us participate in this Simlympics with a good fighting spirit and, at the same time, have fun!

[The crowd then cheered]
James: Mr. Slacker, please stand beside me.
[Slacker then walks to James]
James: Shall we both announce it together?
Slacker: Sure.
James: Okay then. 3, 2, 1.
James and Slacker: We declare that the 9th Simlympiad Games held at Tourist City open!
[The crowd then cheered]
[A fireworks display then followed]
