Proposal: Cross Country
Well, I've started my cross country season, and I was thinking about whether or not I should start a cross-country league here, using points and rankings while adding the personal names of the runners. Meets would happen by region for the teams (regions might be North America/Pacific, South America, Middle East, Atlantic/Africa, Europe and East Asia) with the top two nations going to the finals at the end of November or early December.
The league, tentatively named the Sim Cross Country Association (SXCA), will also feature bidding for finals and also exhibition meets to add points up.
What do you think of this idea? Comments? Questions? Concerns?
If all goes well, the inaugural meet will be held for the North American region on September 6, 2010 in Duwamish's Kalama Stadium.

I'd like to see what it'd look like.... but I'd like it too... maybe Sim City Athletics? the old one died about a year ago so Y not?
Re: Proposal: Cross Country
Well...the SCAA was college-only and Nate ran it...
I think a separate cross-country league for men only would be good, and a women's league could be added next fall.

I'll do a league for athletics (track and field) too, sign-ups in January.
Do you think they should be under the SimSports Athletics Association (SAA) umbrella as a whole? (Not affiliated with SCAA and also includes other smaller sports)

I'm up for it. I'd also be willing to host a regional meet for the Atlantic/Africa Region if all goes well.

Re: Proposal: Cross Country
How about a meet every one to two weeks in different places, that would be wonderful!

Yeah...and the meets feature that region's teams in addition to the winner of the previous meet (the first one will have a team randomly chosen from Eurasia/Africa/Pacific).

Re: Proposal: Cross Country
I am happy to announce I am going through with the SimSports Athletics Association (SAA) plan. If possible, could an admin give me my own forum, with this structure?
-Simsports Athletics Association (The SAA hosts running events, hurdling, discus, shot puts, hammer throws, javelin, long and high jumps, and so much more!)
--Rankings and Sign-ups
--SAA Wiki
--Cross country
--Track and field events
Note: Format is Name (Description)
