The Road to New Chandler- Field Hockey Qualifiers

The King of the United Kingdom of Boyce and Kingston, King Otto I, The High Lord of Kingston, and his wife Queen Eva IV, Duchess of Boyce, welcome the Simlympic Community to their small empire to witness the qualifiers for Simlympic Field Hockey.

With a capacity of 22,000, the Bobby-Orr-Centre in Kingston is the biggest indoor arena in the area. The second largest is the Dames Dome in a northern suburb of the capital Kingston with a capacity of 19,000 people. Those two and the 17,000 - seating Royal Sports Centre in Downtown Boyce were chosen to host the qualifiers. Due to the rather bad weather of the small Kingdom, it was decided to modify the three all-year Ice - Hockey Arenas to host the Simlympic Field Hockey Qualifiers.

For a span of two weeks, 110 different nations arrived on the International Airport Kingston to see their team win.

Following Nation's fans were quite unlucky to not see their team play, but lucky as they were chosen in the Automatic Qualifiers lottery:

This leaves us with 106 nations who had to play or were lucky to skip the first round matches, which were played in all three of the above mentioned arenas.

The Second Round featured a new bunch of match ups after we had our farewell of the eliminated teams.

The further we get, the bigger the tears that we saw, when a team lost. For the final fourth round of the qualifiers, the weather finally got better after four weeks of rain and the games were played outdoor, where they belong. Now used were the 35,000 seating Carolsfeld Stadium and the 45,000 seating Tim-Hortons Sports Park in the New Westminster suburb.

On a bright sunny day, the last 4 games were played and the last four teams validated their tickets to New Chandler.

At the same time, the women fought their qualifiers, but in smaller arenas. For these games, the Kellar Sports Complex in Smithswood and the Yandle Fields in Collingwood were used. Those two indoor arenas both have a capacity of 12,000 each.

The heartbreaks got bigger in the losses the further we went. During the third round, some of the teams showed their absolute best performances. Others, sadly failed to do the same.

After 4 weeks of games, the trouble in our small Kingdom is over. It was a pleasure hosting the qualifiers in men's and women's field hockey.
