Re: Tourist City 2009
can't wait to see more!
and a little suggestion: the stadiums are bit too closely spaced. But i probably shouldnt be the one saying that since Chihiro's Olympic Complex is the same too!

Re: Tourist City 2009
Hi again.
Here's the first set out of the four sets of pictures that I will show (and promoting my new CJ [Raffore Islands {more details below}] on Simtropolis).
The first set consist of overview shots and a few venues of the Sports Hub of Raffore Islands.
View 2 Overview
View 3 Overview
Satellite Shot
Nightview
Map of the Simlympics Area (building not named to prevent potential spoilers)
Sports Hub Adminstration Center and Sports Hub Utility Station
Breakwaters due to strong current
Parking Lots
Olympic Bridge
Olympic Village
And lastly...
Litted Olympic Torch and Tourist City Olympic Stadium
Hope you like these pictures.
And, about Raffore Islands, to some of you, it is actually not a new CJ. The Raffore Islands CJ was inactive since the end of June due to several reasons. However, during these inactivity, I was planning for a better Raffore Islands and it is expected to be out this December (maybe as one of the Christmas present), or 1st quarter of next year should there be some delays. Currently, I'm accepting Embassy Applications (link).
Keep your eyes peeled for the next set (expecting to be released next week).

Here's Set Two out of four sets. This set will show about the Sports Hub security facilities.
To enter the Sports Hub, there's only one way in: Sports Avenue. Before entering, all vehicles will do a quick security check at this checkpoint along the Sports Hub Boundary. At this point, special Electronic Overhanging X-ray Scans (EOXS) will scan through each of the vehicles as the vehicles pass through this point. Any vehicle deemed dangerous will have its vehicular license plate number taken at the EOXS station and the license plate number will be send to the respective vehicular checkpoint for additional checking.
The Sports Hub Entrance Roundabout, where all vehicles will pass through this roundabout. As a result, two security booths have been set up to monitor the traffic to ensure everyone is safe.
The following two vehicular checkpoints will conduct checks for any vehicle deemed dangerous by the EOXS. For vehicles not deemed dangerous can pass through the checkpoints without any checks.
The vehicular checkpoint for every type of vehicles except buses (Non-bus Vehicular Checkpoint [NVC for short]).
The vehicular checkpoint for buses (Bus Vehicular Checkpoint [BVC for short]). This vehicular checkpoint can also act as an back-up checkpoint when either the Sports Hub Entrance Roundabout or the NVC or both have been closed for special reasons (accident, fire, bombed, etc.).
The Sports Hub Emergency and Security Center (Shesec for short). It contains a police department, a fire department, a healthcare department and an emergency department.
Lastly, the forest you see here is the Security Forest. Within the forest are two rows of fences with barb wire on top of it. These fences are position 16 metres apart. Security Police Forces (SPF) will petrol the gap between the two rows of fences 24/7 to ensure that no trespassers will enter the Sports Hub. In addition, 360 degrees CCTV cameras are position every 8 metres of the fences.
Look out next week for Set Three where I show you Non-Sporting Simlympics venues.

Re: Tourist City 2009
Here's my reason why I can't space them out any further:
1) Raffore Islands is a small country, therefore the land space is very limited. Almost all of the land space have been taking up by infrastructure. This Sports Hub was built through reclamation (or terraforming if you prefer) and the Government don't allow to further reclaim the land due to several reasons.
2) The stadiums and arenas are spaced somewhat close to each other so that competitors and visitors can travel between venues quickly (who likes to walk long distances?).
3) Reclamation on Raffore Islands cost a bomb. As the whole of Sports Hub was built on reclaimed land, the cost of the reclamation alone is estimated US$8 864 000 000, which is about 90% of the budget for the Sports Hub.

Re: Tourist City 2009
Yup, I do know that. Most sports on Sports Hub are located indoors due to the location of Raffore Islands (it's located about 1 degree north of the equator). So people recommended that the sports can be located indoors to enjoy the air-conditioning.
So field hockey will be held indoors at the Toyota Hockey Center.

Re: Tourist City 2009
Cool, I guess its gonna be a bit hot in the Empire this december, seeing as it is Summer in the Empire right now
Re: Tourist City 2009
Warm weather in Ylmeria? Okay. I hope you have air-conditioners in the Simlympics Village and such. If not, it will be too stuffy that it will affect the athletics performance (maybe).
Re: Tourist City 2009
its not THAT hot. Its about 34 degrees. Very high for this time of the year, but it will be cooler in a couple of days
Re: Tourist City 2009
34 degrees fahrenheit or 34 degrees celsius? In Singapore, we use celsius, so 34 degrees is TOO HOT!
Re: Tourist City 2009
celsius. In Greece 34 degrees is hot, but compared to 40 degrees we sometimes get, its not so hot. The weather in Athens during that 2004 games was like that - no problems though
Re: Tourist City 2009
awfully warm there the hottest the Rorysville mainland sees is 30C at the current moment the Temperature for Rorysville City is -10C
Re: Tourist City 2009
On average Escambia is about 29C/82F. Hottest its ever been was 43C/109F and coldest ever been was 7C/44F

You've seen canoeing in the Simlympics. You've seen rowing in the Simlympics. And you've also seen sailing in the Simlympics. These are the only boating events in the Simlympics so far. But, what if there's a fourth boating event in the Simlympics?
Presenting, Dragon boating!
Originating from China during the pre-Christian era, Dragon boating has been made an international sport by Hong Kong in 1976. For more information on dragon boating, click here.
In the Simlympics, dragon boating can be held in several events as follow:
For the venues of dragon boating, it can be held in water bodies like lakes, rivers or the sea. However, the width of the water body about 400 m wide.
So, the sea would be the best venue for dragon boating.
Also, if Tourist City (a city in Raffore Islands) happens to win the rights to host the next Simlympics, dragon boating will be held as an demonstration sport if dragon boating doesn't become an official sport by then.
So what you guys think?
