SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Voted 'Best Sports League' 2008 Trixies
Back for its third year, the SLB gives your city the opportunity to host a Major League baseball team (or two) in your city, and to compete for the coveted World Series trophy. In order to host a team, your metropolitan area must have a baseball stadium and at least 100,000 simizens, and to host a second team in the same city will require a population over 1 million.
The league will again be split into the Simtropolis League and the SC4Devotion League, and each prospective owner will be limited to three SLB teams, with a maximum of two teams in either league.
The season will run parallel with the real MLB season, from April to October, with the World Series scheduled for the end of October. The games will be simulated using the 'Out of the Park' (OOTP) baseball simulator, which will provide the statistical overload that baseball is known for. Over the course of the next month or two I will be getting everything in place in terms of team logos, colours etc., so when you post your team details, please include all the necesary information as it is needed to set up the simulator.
Post your team's details here to enter. We will need all existing teams to reconfim their place in the SLB. If your team is new to the Major Leagues, an overview picture of your city / stadium will be required to show you have the necessary population base (100,000 Sims minimum).
Teams entered through SimSports can nominate which League (Simtropolis or SC4Devotion) they wish to participate in, subject to the 2 teams per league / 3 teams overall limits.
When you post your team's details, please include the following as we need them for setting up the simulator:
City Name
Team Name
Logo (I can make one if you like)
League (ST or SC4D)
Home Field
Team Colours
Real-World Nationality (where most of your players will come from)
Location (only needed if you're in a big country, ie northwestern USA)
The 2009 Simtropolis AAA Leagues will be organised in April, so hold fire on those teams for now.

Can teams progress from the minors to the majors? If so can you bump my team(s) into the major league please?

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Yes they can.
Fortuna can have one team if its population is over 100,000, and two if its over 1 million.

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Okay great, in that case I'd like to sign up both of Fortuna's teams to the Major League please .
Hopefully they can improve on their performance in the Winter league, not holding out much hope though .

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Well there should be less competition - only 40-odd other teams!
I'll still need you to fill out a form (at the top) for each team though - there's more than just team names to deal with

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
I might have to put your teams in opposite leagues since:
1) I don't want to put both your teams in the same division;
2) There are no convenient divisional boundaries anywhere near the UK;
3) The ST League currently has twice as many teams as the SC4D League, and I want them roughly even;
4) It's the only way you'll ever get a Keys-Grizzlies World Series.
Any objections to that Slacker?
(Welcome to the Majors, btw )

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
That all sounds fine . Probably best to have the local rivalries not playing each other on a regular basis, Fortuna's riot police have enough on their hands as it is!

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
If you could update the Winter League runner up Westsiders that would be wonderful, I started the the Thomson Aviators a while back and since have deleted that city so you can remove that team that would be great.

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Glad to have you and Utan here SimAl although we already have a team named the Suns with a suspiciously similar logo. Is there another nickname you could use?SimAl wrote:City Name: Utan

Also, since I have a huge imbalance of teams some people may be moved into the SC4D League to even up numbers a bit. I imagine it would actually improve your chances of winning too!

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
SLB09 entries will be closing SATURDAY, MARCH 28. If you miss this date, you'll have to wait for 2010 to join the big leagues.
The only way to get in after that date is if we have an uneven number of teams and I have to put in a filler team. I can replace the filler team, but you'll have to beg, grovel, and probably bribe me as well.

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
Still 2:1 in favour of ST, which is a big imbalance when you have 47 teams!
I'll just shift some across to even it out though.

kk
hey outta curiosity are Marceau and Rorysville Gonna end up in the same division? If not I'd like to request that lol(same league I know but same Division would be awesome that way they get a good batch of games vs. each other)

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
I have tried to separate teams so the season doesn't just become (say) canuck v canuck. Plus when they do meet, there should be something on the line at the end of the season
I think I also turned interleague games on, for those who end up on opposite sides of the draw.

Re: SLB '09: Major League Entries & Signups
I know but I've always liked having the division rivalry that way say it becomes RV v Marceau for the division that makes it worth something more than just wins v a conference opponent
