Simlympic Torch Relay
For the first time ever, we will be doing a torch relay. It will start on August 1st and will tour around the world up until the start of the August Simlympics in Penthesili. The torch relay will be in a different city every day for 23 days. The tour will go across land, sea and air and will travel past monuments and world wonders as it reaches it's destination, the Simlympic Torch at Penthesili.
Which cities are taking part?
Cities from all over the SimWorld will be participating, with CJs/MDs housed on many different websites taking part. There are still places left on the Torch Relay, so if you'd like your CJ/MD to take part just send me a PM . We are going to be keeping the list of participating cities under wraps so to add an element of surprise to the relay. Although, all of the coverage for the Torch Relay will be posted in this thread too.
Hope you enjoy the torch relay, beginning August 1st!

Re: Simlympic Torch Relay
Now, for the first day of the Torch Relay:
Day 1 - New Rhodesia - 6Underground
The Simlympics comes home, to first host nation, as the torch makes it way through the city:
Starting off at the Welsh parliament, the Torch relay squad passed over Prince Llywelyn Bridge, over the gorgeous Metroplex, astride the museum of sentient rights to cheering crowds:
The route continued down through union quay park into Rhodendron bay, and the torch runner scaled the many stairs within the Celtica Colossus, and finally... THE TORCH WAS LIT!

Re: Simlympic Torch Relay
Ha ha, the smoke from the torch in the streets looks like a car burning (although I have no idea how much smoke burns from a real Olympic torch). Great work 6U, perfect place for the torch relay to start

Re: Simlympic Torch Relay
Sorry for lack of day 2 guys. My internet was down for most of last night and the host of days 2 & 3 seems to have disappeared, although it was his birthday yesterday so I guess we can let him off . I'm hoping I can get someone else to post their coverage today, so we don't go two days without a post - which would suck.
Thanks for the support .

Re: Simlympic Torch Relay
Notice: I'm on holiday for two weeks from tomorrow, but sim1234 will be posting all the updates. So, if you have any questions, please ask him .
----------------------------------------------------
Day Five - Republic of Myon - Leech
Nikki: We're coming to you live from Jumper 1--
Nick: It's a GS-1.
Nikki: Well, I like puddle jumper better, and since I'm the one flying, its Jumper 1. Anyway, as I was saying before I was interrupted, we're coming to you live from over Vartak City Park, where the Simlympic Torch is currently making its way though the city of Vartak.
Nick: The Torch will soon head north though Marul, after a quick hand off between runners.
Nikki: The Torch has already made its way up from the waterfront in downtown, and will head up though Marul before heading off to its next destination.
Nick: Vartak City Park, where the recent Torch relay has recently passed though.
Nikki: Not to be confused with the Vartak-Marul City Park, which is just to the north.
Nick: This park is bigger.
Nick: This is the northern area of Vartak, close to downtown.
Nikki: Though the bottom part of the picture is in the twilight zone between Vartak and Marul.
Nick: And the high speed rail line is visible as well.

Re: Simlympic Torch Relay
As Slacker mentioned in his previous post, he is now on holiday and so I'll be posting the updates until the 18th when I'll be going on holiday too. If anyone has any questions about the relay, send me a PM either on this site, on SC4 Devotion or on Simtropolis and I'll be happy to answer them. There are also a few spaces left and so if you want to take part in the relay, either leave a message in this thread or send me a PM.
Day Six - The Shalman Empire - balkair
The Torch Relay is Here!
The torch will pass from some of Ylmeria's and the Empire's most famous landmarks!
At 16:05, Ylmeria time, an emergency broadcast of the Imperial Broadcasting Network was broadcasted, as the airship carrying the flame was nearing Ylmeria. The event was covered live:
The first stop of the Simlymic Flame was the Technological Exhibition. Many people gathered in the grounds to see the Simlympic Flame.
Many people also gathered at the Imperial Archives for the same reason:
But a stunning number of people gathered in Aurorium to watch Crown Prince Nadior, who was voted the sexiest man in the Empire, carry the flame. They (mostly the girls) gave the police a hard time!
And finally at 20:00 the flame arrives at the Imperial Opera in front of Obelisk Park, where the Empire has organized a grand firework display. On the Imperial Opera House you can see a screen counting down to the biggest sporting event in the COFR, which are the PanAndromedan Games of August 15th, and will be hosted by the Empire.
The crowd had to be entertained while they waited, so the Empire organized for some stuff to happen before the flame arrived:
Despite the light rain, the last torch runner lit the Torch in front of the Imperial Opera House, sarounded by cheering crowds:
And of course some light rain would never stop a fireworks display like this one:
