Torch Relay - Day 12 - Haarlemstraat, Victoria

Today we will travel to the 12th leg of the relay at Haarlemstraat, Victoria!

Welcome to Haarlemstraat! This is the 12th day of the relay and we hope to impress you! The torch arrives via subway from the airport to arrive at the brand new King Leopold Station. The largest and busiest station in the city, located in the heart of the Central Business District.

The sun is shining so lets watch the relay continue...


Travelling via the canal system, there will be no 'runners' as such, but bearers who will carry the torch on boats throught the intricate and historic system. The crowds have crammed the canal sides to get a glimpse of history, a glimpse of the Simlympics.

The relay will now leave the CBD, and will travel along the King Leopold Canal...



The torch is now travelling by boat along the world famous King Leopold Canal, which is the premier location in the city for cruises and rowing as well as many other water-based activities. The crowds are lining both sides of this wide canal as it passes the CBD and also Sofia Ardvisson Park on the right of the picture.



The relay now takes you through one of the oldest sections of the city, where you can see Leopold University and row after row of historic housing which epitomises the city. As you can see, the people of Haarlemstraat are extremely excited to have the Simlympics visit their city and are cramming every available canal-side viewing position.



To finish the relay, the torch is arriving at the Oceania Headquarters of the Simlympics, housed in the historic Royal Diamond Exchange. Here the crowds are eagerly awaiting the arrival by boat of the torch which will be presented to Crown Princess Grace who will take the torch via helicopter onto its next destination.
