Torch Relay - Day 13 - Haarlemstraat, Victoria
Welcome to Day 13 of the Winter Simlympic Torch Relay! First of all, sorry for the lack of visible crowds, I ran out of time. Next time!
So as the torch flies into Haarlemstraat we are able to see this magnificent view of part of the older part of the city. This will give you an idea of the city that the relay will traverse on its way to Skovvien.
Upon landing the torch passed through Luchthaven Haarlemstraat and the new King Leopold Terminal. Following this arrival by many important figures in Haarlemstraat politics, the torch was wisked away into the city by the brand new subway link.
The torched emerged from the subway into the heart of the business district, from here it will travel via the canal system to a variety of different sites across the next two days.
The first official stop in the city is at St. Michael's Column, a memorial to the citizens of Haarlemstraat who lost their lives fighting to defend Victoria in the War of Separation.
The next stop is not a huge and prominent landmark but a small urban square where in fact the first bullet was fired to start the War of Separation.
The final stop for today is at the Oceania Regional and Victorian Headquarters. Here the torch will remain overnight and will launch the tour for tomorrow
