Re: Torch Relay - Day 9 - Holidia
Welcome to Holidia!
Saft Sait tae Hólidia!
Fáilte go Saoire Áithlin!
This year's Holidian leg will take place in Rathlin City for the second time, but this year it is three times longer and under less restriction. To make the experience more unique the Holidian organisers have added a theme to the Holidian leg - Past, Present and Future and this can reflected by the route the torch is taking, going form the future grand sites of Holidia into the modern city centre, across the Largymore Canal into the old city and finally into the countryside towards the spaceport...
ROUTE MAP
Most of the route is on foot except for the final 3 miles from the Abbey to the Spaceport which is extremely steep and has very little spectators, so therefore done by car
THE RELAY
The relay began shortly after the torch landed at Rathlin City Airport direct from a fantastic run in Novland, it was greeted by the largest ever Holidian crowd to meet a torch and continued its journey through the building sites of the new city - 'Glenfall' and onto the City Centre...
The torch passed by many fabulous landmarks in the CBD although the extensive crowds in swarms blocked out most of the views from the torch-bearers...
All roads were closed 2 hours either side of the torch passing a location, although since it was saturday there was no major traffic problems...
Crossing the bridge over the Largymore into the Old city, the torch was met by narrow streets...
The torch briefly stopped at the Spanish Palace, where it was greeted by large crowds, local celebrities and government ministers. There was a concert and fireworks after it left...
On it's last stop inside the city limits, then torch went through Victoria park, through the docklands and onto the spaceport...
At the newly-refurbished spaceport the torch begins its 14 hour journey to Ylmeria, Shalman Commonwealth, which is guaranteed to be another fabulous leg...
Thank You and Good Night!

Great post - the Old City is super cool, with the light rail tracks running through the historic buildings.

Very nicely done - I like how it links in nicely with Shalman's leg.
