Re: Torch Relay - Friday March 27th - Nation of Holidia
The 4th leg of the torch relay - hosted by Holidia will take place in the city of Rathlin (the largest city, although not the capital). The following is a news extract taken from today's 6 o'clock news on national channel WaveTV1...
[Announcer]: ...and you can catch up with today's HFA and Premiership action on Football Focus at 10.35pm. But now here's the news at six o'clock...
[Karen]: Welcome to Wave Newsline with Mark Carruthers and Karen Patterson...
[Mark]: Tonights top story - Holidia's first ever torch relay has been deemed a success by Lord Mayor of Rathlin Bobby Delaney.
[Karen]: Speaking earlier today the Lord Mayor said "It is great to see that our nation has finally progressed past the stage of futile violence that kept pulling us back into the past no matter how hard we tried to move foward. This international event has proven that both sides of the community can come together and unite to enjoy a sucessful event and when the eyes of the world are upon them."
[Mark]: We now go to our reporter in the west - Julian Fowler...
[Julian]: Here the cleanup has just finished there was a party atomesphere here all of yesterday going into the wee hours of the morning.
The relay started it's journey from George Best International after arriving from Novland yesterday morning. It then continued by car through parts of Dubfast and then was taken by helicopter to rathlin island.
After arrving the runners continued on foot from Portglenoe into Rathlin City itself through the old city where the bars and pubs were filled to the brim and there was a carnival like atmosphere.
It then continued across the Kelvin Bridge, through the city centre and up royal avenue
Then back across the lagan canal via the King George bridge and into the grounds of hillsborough castle - where the flame of Rathin was lit by the torch. Many also watched on multiplexes across the rest of the province.
Sorry about the lack of images and lateness it has been a hectic week...
