Winter Simlympic BAT Pack

I can now officially confirm that we are working on a Winter Simlympic BAT pack.

The pack will be ready for release in time for the III Winter Simlympics, in 2011.

The Winter Simlympic BAT pack will contain everything you need to host the Winter Simlympics in one convenient download. Featuring a series of brand new, never before seen BATs as well as a selection of pre-existing venues and foreign favourites this is bound to be the biggest SC4 custom content event of the winter.

That's all I can say now. Full details will be announced during the ISC Presidents speech at the Closing Ceremony of the October Simlympics.

Unfortunately, it looks like we're not going to be able to meet our self-imposed November 1st deadline. We hope the delay will only be a week or say, but it may be 10 days and it will definitely be out by November 15th.

Apologies, but this really is a huge project - perhaps bigger than we anticipated, so we therefore need a little bit more time to make it perfect for ya'll .

As I said in my closing ceremony speech this pack will contain everything you need to host/bid for the Winter Simylmpics. It will be game changing .

I would have chosen "hopefully" and "most of", personally... but I'm a pessimist by nature

We're making good progress and hope to have it out early November. It will definitely be out by November 15th.

Engorn didn't ask when the pack will be released; he asked where. I'd assume the STEX, since that would get the pack the most exposure, but I'll let Slacker give a definitive answer.

Ah yes. My apologies Engorn .

The answer is: pretty much everywhere! We'll release it on the STEX, the SC4D LEX (Although not sure how easy it is to release things there) and we'll have it available for download from SimSports too. If anyone has any suggestions for other sites to release it just let me know and we'll see what we can do - we want to give this pack as much coverage as possible .

Maybe it can bee released on CSC too. But to release something there you'll need permission of the staff.

Yeah that'd be great. Wouldn't it be a problem that the entire pack is in English?

LEX would be tricky. They only allow releases from BATers who are 'approved by committee'. If BATs and modding don't stand up to their scrutiny then you're not allowed to release.

I prefer the more liberal approach, as demonstrated by the free and democratic STEX where you can upload what you want, when you want and let the people decide what's worthy

There's a public BAT forum though (for non LEX qualified BATers), where we could publicise the Winter Simlympic BATs and Lots. I wouldn't recommend pushing for a LEX release though. The vast majority of LEX users are patrons of Simtropolis as well, so I don't think it's necessary to go through the scrutineering process.

Non English speaking sites might be worth it though, although I only speak English unfortunately, so I can't translate any descriptions or anything

yeah I had figured on releasing it Here and the STEX for sure others I didn't think of

Maybe you don't, but if it's necessary to translate them to Spanish, that's my job. Anyway I'll ask if there is any problem about having it in English on CSC. I don't think so. Many of us have downloads from English sites, so I think it wont be a problem.

OK. I spoke with the administrator of CSC and it wont be any problem about releasing it there, even if it is in English.

Ahhh I see. I didn't realise the LEX approvement process was that stringent. In that case I agree with you then, no need to release on the LEX.

Well, it has to be a member of the staff who release things on CSC downloads section, but I can do it without any problems.
