OPENING CEREMONY OF THE VII SIMLYMPIC GAMES

The director, chorographer and artist John Paris will travel us into a dream opening ceremony showing the beauties of Dimland and its civilization, its people, their dreams and their achievements. He travels us to beautiful landscapes, monuments and cities. For Dimland the journey lasted almost for 2 years. Dear friends this is Dimland, a civilization strongly affected by the Greeks, similar to some parts…. different to some other. One thing is for sure…. Their soul is the same.

Alexis Kostalas (broadcaster): Good evening ladies and gentlemen we broadcasting live from Penthesili, Capital of Dimland from the Simlympic stadium. It is a warm lovely evening here in Penthesili. Everything is ready for the big opening. 91000 spectators are waiting impatiently for the grand opening. After a period of cease of the games we are here again, the simlympics are back again. Everyone in the stadium is ecstatic. The games have some records. For the first time we had torch relay, the simlympic flame passed 23 cities, the competing simnations are 64 and finally over 4 billion people will watch the ceremony. For the next 16 days Penthesili will be the center of the world and the capital of simsports. As the president of ‘PENTHESILI 2008’ said the games are the opportunity for the country to show to the simworld its achievements. Two years of hard work….two years of exciting preparations. The bid has been won, the games are starting any moment now. The lights went out and……

In Greek mythology, Penthesilea (Greek: Πενθεσίλεια) or Penthesileia was an Amazonian queen, daughter of Ares and Otrera, and sister of Hippolyta, Antiope and Melanippe. Quintus Smyrnaeus explains more fully how Penthesilea came to be at Troy: Penthesilea had killed Hippolyta with a spear when they were hunting deer; this accident caused Penthesilea so much grief that she wished only to die, but, as a warrior and an Amazon, she had to do so honorably and in battle. She therefore was easily convinced to join in the Trojan War, fighting on the side of Troy's defenders.
in the Pseudo-Apollodorus Epitome of the Bibliotheke she is said to have been killed by Achilles, "who fell in love with the Amazon after her death and slew Thersites for jeering at him". The common interpretation of this has been that Achilles was romantically enamored of Penthesilea.the amazonians dance is first with Eleni Iliades.

WOW!! Absolutely incredible Mitsos, I'm blown away. Everything about it is amazing, from the scale to the music to the fantastic pictures to the awesome fireworks!
It's hard to take everything in as there is so much there and it's all so nicely done. It actually felt like the Beijing Opening ceremony, so amazing!! That's the most incredible SC4 update I've ever seen, just fantastic! Thank you Mitsos, a perfect start to what I'm sure will be the perfect Simlympics

What a superb job and congratulations to the host city of Penthesili on an excellent Simlympic Park and vincinity. Also, the Mayor of the city of Nauqland was present, although not competing in this Simlympics.
