Re: Medal Table
Don’t be upset. For me this is the first and last time being in first place. I had the advantage of hosting the games. It is success that you won at least one medal. Hope you to win the next bid so to be in the first place.

Possible I sent in a major overhaul of the schedule to Slacker near the start of these games. Maybe for october or December

Re: Medal Table
6th I am very happy with as well as the SCJU being the top Union
Is it possible to ask what exactly the medal selection process is? As well as what the ISC plan to change for the next games?

Re: Medal Table
Okay, I'm going to reveal all the intricacies hopefully tomorrow - but here are the basics. And I'd like to thank dljrfn for his suggestions, which have formed a part of the new system:
- A points system, which lets competitors assign points, at varying levels, to different sports. The way this is done will be very user friendly and easy to do, something the previous point system lacked.
- Building on past successes, our system will look at past results (From December onwards, to be fair) and increase a countries chances based on past results. So a gold in Football will increase your chance of winning a medal next time around.
Also going to be announcing a couple of other improvements to areas not related to medal calculation.
And ES: Currently it's random, far from perfect but the old system had flaws and we wanted to focus on getting the Simlympics up and running first of all, and then focus on improving our calculation procedures.

Re: Medal Table
Adding on to slackers comment
The proposal I sent in has 312 Meddle possibilities in mens and womens sports. (as opposed to 50 now)
The proposal will probably not be completely endorsed but it should boost the overall meddle count.

Re: Medal Table
I like the idea of a more 'systematic' approach to medal selection. While I believe it may retain a level of randomness?
I look forward to seeing what you propose and detail Slacker

Re: Medal Table
Yup, it will still contain some randomness as you can never predict the winners in sport. I'll try to explain, but it's quite complex and I always fail at explaining it properly - say a country assigns 100 out of their total 500 points (Random numbers btw) to baseball, a truely huge amount and most others will probably assign around 10. We then total all the assigned points and use a random selector to chose the winning 3 medals. Say nation a assigned 10 points, they get 1-10, nation b 15 points, they get 11 - 26, and nation c 100 points, they get 27-127. As you can see, because nation c assigned 100 points they have a far greater chance of winning a medal, but the others still have a chance.
Of course, this is the system at it's most basic without taking into account past successes and other criteria .
Dljfrn: Yeah, we've cut that down somewhat (Currently at 90 events, so 270 medals up for grabs). We don't have mens/womens events because they don't add anything to the experience, seeing a picture of a womens baseball match is the same as seeing a picture of a mens baseball match for instance. But there is indeed a lot more events. Anyway, I'm gonna stop talking about the new system now . You'll all have to wait until it's unveiled, which will hopefully be tomorrow... but no promises - it still needs a lot of work doing to it.

Re: Medal Table
Slacker: the new system sounds great. I like that it is a mix of random chance and strategy. It will make the games even more interesting and fun.
I'm also glad that there will be more events; as the games grow, it would be better to have more medals to help break ties and spread more medals among more participants.

Re: Medal Table
so... wait 312/3=104... 90 so you cut down 14 events but with the men womens split that was like 52 per each so you've added a lot to that.... interesting
