Bidding using a RL logo isn't looked highly upon by the ISC Wacky...

I wouldn't necessarily say it hurts, but an original logo certainly gives the indication you've put more time and effort in, which we like.

I think that you should use another program other than paint, really looks bad. And your city building skills still need a lot of work. I also think you did your bid too quickly, it doesn't look like you put much work into it. Try spending more time on it, and use gimp (its free) and I'm sure your bid will turn out great.

Ok i may try GIMP, but if my computer crashes (luckily i got this thing that saves everyting on the hardrive) im going back to Paint!
Re: Linktoria City/Lake Newport 2011 - comments
Why would you're computer crash? I've never had a problem with it.
BTW, its pretty tricky to learn, I can help you if you want help

Well for my bid logo, I used Paint (alot of layering), so learn to layer in paint or copy and paste, or use gimp

It looks alright, but it looks more like a poster than a logo to me

Wacky a small tip the small details make the difference
you see all the rough edges around the rings? you need to make it look a lot cleaner.
also on the mountains maybe just use the paintbrush or pencil tool in GIMP and click on your starting point then hold shift down and aim to your mountain point click again then to the other side of the mountain again holding shift click on the final spot for said mountain and repeat

Well seeing that the bid is up, I see one problem that REALLY stands out to a skiier like myself, the mogul run....
Thats pretty steep Wacky A mogul run looks sort of like this (look to the right) run (Search Mt Bachelor Skyliner Face or Mt Bachelor Dentists Way for other pictures of this run Wacky), it is not that steep (a blue square run)
If you google image search "Mount Bachelor Outback (or Northwest) Express Runs" you should get some good inspiration. What you don't want for a mogul run is something that the skiiers in Portland call the "Elevator Shaft" (for a good reason, if you want to look at it more it is at Mount Hood Meadows)

Re: Linktoria City/Lake Newport 2011 - comments
and the above picture is exactly what you don't want in Alpine Events
Re: Linktoria City/Lake Newport 2011 - comments
No. You have to have moguls (this is another reason to get GIMP)
But slopewise it's a little better.
Also you need a chairlift

Maybe use a bigger map tile. And get custom trees.

Another problem. The halfpipe.
I was seriously laughing at you when I saw this (thats mean but honest). Here is what it should look like:
Heres what you should notice-
MAN MADE - This is another reason where GIMP could save you. Just some shadows on a bunny hill could pull this off
The walls aren't that big - This isn't Heather Canyon (click it) the walls are generally only 15 feet high (in the X games thats what it is, this one is slightly bigger, at 18 feet).
It goes downhill - The halfpipe, if you go straight down the middle, is still a pretty fast run (at least a "blue" run or "green+blue" run) so you should aim it downhill.
so, aim it downhill, make it smaller, and get those trees out of the middle. If somebody hits those, you're games would be remembered in a not-so-good reason
BTW, have you ever skiied?

Well winter is coming, so somehow you need to get to a ski resort You would love me forever It's a bit more realistic when you are ON the mountain then when you are watching it (the people on TV make it look easy )Wacky32 wrote:No, but i watched the vancouver games!

I'm going to be frank here, You are in no way ready to host a Simlympics. Maybe try another ISC session bid? Or maybe take this bid off and take a bit to re build?

Re: Linktoria City/Lake Newport 2011 - comments
being a tad less frank than Cormiermax or K50 I would suggest taking a stroll around SC4D.... look at the Mayor Diaries and the Picture Competition because you are seriously underestimating what SC4 can do. When you see what this program is capable of you gain a new respect for what you can do with this game (and that's even with out the assistance of GIMP or Photo-shop) I would strongly suggest passing on this bid season in general study the master works and then come back with a bigger arsenal of content and ideas.... and then proceed to own

to echo Emperador there
Not just SC4D look at the CJ's here mine and K50's as well as Joes etc... Looking at what others have done and adding some more custom content and learning the ways will help you build better cities couple that with the ability to edit photos and you'll have a great shot at hosting you've got alot of energy and I'd love to see it utilized properly

And it's certainly not just custom content, all of my pictures are edited... and not with MS Paint, but with GIMP. Joe's pictures are edited as well, but he probably uses Photoshop or Inkscape (although I doubt he uses Inkscape on his SC4 images).canuck3360 wrote:to echo Emperador there

Re: Linktoria City/Lake Newport 2011 - comments
well K50 I have to disagree with you there. While editing is nice... it's not the focal point. If you can really build up your city with content and a meticulous attention to detail that Impresses me a far amount more then a nice border, and some fancy logo's hidden in pictures.
but that's just me
