Here is my hometown Torino, Italy
View of the city and his mountains
Night shoot
The Mole Antonelliana, a symbol of Torino, houses the National Cinema Museum and is the highest structure in brick and reinforced concrete in the world
Piazza Castello is the heart of the city, bordering the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama, the first Italian Parliament. Turin was the first Italian capital before of Rome
Via Roma is the shopping street, there are shops Calvin Klein, Custò, Trussardi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hermès, Vivienne Westwood, Lous Vuitton, Alberta ferretti, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Fendi, Prada.
Piazza San Carlo
Piazza Vittorio is the largest porticoed square in Europe, is the privileged place for night life. The legend says that in the church in the first foreground is guarded the Holy Grail.
The Olympic Stadium
The Olympic Arc
A historic image of Lingotto, first Fiat factory and a great example of industrial architecture, the machines were builded along an assembly line that runs continuously for the six storeys of the structure, the testing track was on the roof

Re: Show us your hometown
there is no ugly city in italy. more industrial yes but not ugly. don't forget that the revival in europe started in Italy. i found Turin great city. the guy that told you that has not aesthetic sense of architecture.

Re: Show us your hometown
mitsos you are right, every city is beautiful in its own way, Turin until the Olympics has been seen only as a city-factory, gray and gloomy, forgetting that was the center of the Italian Risorgimento, baroque and art-nouveau, of course even here there are some bad neighborhoods on the outskirts and bad examples of architectural and urban planning, heritage of boundless growth of 50's and 60's.
Melbourne looks great too, has a beautiful skyline even better than Sydney's one, I'd like a lot visit Australia if only I'm not afraid to fly : P
I think that Detroit has had the same fate of Turin, is often recognized as an industrial city, without thinking that at the beginning of this millennium was the protagonist of a great cultural and musical revolution.

Re: Show us your hometown
Turin looks fantastic, unfortunately I didn't get to go there during the summer... but one day I hope.
I don't have any of my own pictures, but here are some I've found online.
Lancing:
I'll post some of Brighton tomorrow, Lancing is in the Greater Brighton area.

Yeah, it's pretty quiet. Kind of a bad thing though, next to nothing goes on here .

Dublin, Ireland
I remember that summer in Dublin,
And the Liffey as it stank like hell,
And young people walking down Grafton Street,
Everyone looking so well.
I was singing a song I heard somewhere,
Called "Rock'n'Roll Never Forget",
When my humming was smothered by the 46A,
And the scream of a low flying jet.
So, I jumped on a bus to Dun Laoghaire,
Stopping off to pick up my guitar,
When a drunk on a bus told me how to get rich,
I was glad we weren't going too far.
The Liffey (main river in Dublin) doesn't stink anymore (just in case you're wondering) I know I'm biased but, for all it's flaws, I love Dublin

Ah, the U2 tower...such dreams I had...well, ''negotiations are ongoing'' which is never a good sign...at least we'll hopefully have a tower just across the river a similar height

Re: Show us your hometown
Honestly I really don't like turning-style tower, there were other proposals that was better than the chooses one..... Here too has been discussed for two years the possibility to build a skyscraper, finally last Monday was approved
