PAS XIV Now Closed!

Our Points Allocation System (PAS) allows competitors to add emphasis to sports their athletes should do better in, all from one easy to use online form.

Each competing nation receives 1000 points (plus bonuses) which they can use to assign to the different Simlympic sports. Nations can also choose not to compete in certain sports simply by assigning that sport with 0 points.

PAS is now Open for the XIV Simlympiad (June 2011). It will close promptly on Sunday 15 May to allow the qualification tournaments to be run.

Bonus points:
The method of calculating bonuses is a system of diminishing returns. This simply means that older bonuses aren't worth as much as newer bonuses. Better keep active if you want that Simlympic spirit to transfer into PAS points!

Participation: you get a 25 point bonus simply for being part of each Simlympics.
Bidding: Submitting a legitimate bid that makes it to the ISC session will see you earn a 50 point bonus.
Hosting: Hosting is a big deal, so if you win hosting rights for the Simlympics, you get a whopping 150 point bonus.

Thanks to the dimishing returns, it is possible that your points total can go down from games to games, although not as sharply as it rises with bidding and hosting bonuses.

Summer v Winter - there isn't a lot of crossover in real life, and neither is there in PAS.

This might seem a little obtuse, but I just want to be clear - we can no longer specify which events we are allocating points toward, merely disciplines? IE: I cannot type in which specific event I'd like to assign x number of points to?

I think you answered this above but I wanted to be clear about typing in individual competitions.

320-line online form? What is that because Im not really understnading this, I mean I read it all, but I don't understand it.

Instead of the individual events, it's categories.

For example: you allocate points for Athletics, not like 100m, 200m, 400m, individually like you did before.

Okay, cool.I just wanted to make absolutely sure that we couldn't delineate our responses.

Perhaps ideally we'd have an online version of the excel spreadsheet, but without the help of someone skilled in that area it isn't going to happen anytime soon.
The excel sheet was a pain in the posterior to collate, with several different formats, and the online form makes it easier since everyone can use it. And with so many events, having a ridiculously long form was impractical.

No, actually. In that case, Mens + Womens = 100. So it could be 50+50, or 99+1, or 73+27, or anything in between depending on how the spreadsheet is feeling.

The number of points you put against a category of events will be split amongst all the events in that category. I expect to see some large numbers against some categories, especially Swimming, with its 30 events.

Wacky - if you want to resubmit in light of that, go ahead - all submissions are timestamped and I'll take the latest one.
