Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
Seeing as someone went and preempted my Naval Review, here it is anyway...
Đa Cyninges Sciphere
The King's Navy
(1) Fleet Flagship.
(2) Under construction - scheduled to replace ÐCS Brogeléas in 2014.
(3) Procured and gifted by the King of Cruithness under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(4) Procured and gifted by the King of Deheubarth under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
Guided missile destroyer ÐCS Wrecende
(5) The new Wrecende-class destroyers will gradually replace the aging Bréman-class ships.
Frigate ÐCS Trevellyn
(6) Procured and gifted by the King of Deheubarth under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(7) Procured and gifted by the King of Cruithness under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(8) Procured and gifted by the King of Kincathra under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(9) The new Farindun-class frigates will gradually replace the aging Sceaffield-class ships.
(10) The new Brei-class mine countermeasure vessels will augment the existing fleet.
(11) Procured and gifted by the King of Deheubarth under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(12) Procured and gifted by the King of Cruithness under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(13) Procured and gifted by the King of Kincathra under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(14) The new Ranuald-class inshore patrol vessles will augment the existing fleet.
(15) Procured and gifted by the King of Cruithness under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(16) Procured and gifted by the King of Deheubarth under the Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty.
(17) The new Type 47 submarines will gradually replace the aging Type 43 boats.
(18) The Ánweald Róse, a 112-gun first-rate launched in 1782, became Admiral Sibrand Eahlan's flagship upon her launch, and was his command vessel during the Battle of Ushant (1808), in which the Æscing navy crushed a combined Martelian and Nervian fleet. She is now in permanent dry dock near the main naval base at Tamar.
(19) The battlecruiser ÐCS Tíw earned a reputation for near-invincibility during World War II, as she managed to sink or disable larger and more powerful Axis warships on several occasions, earning 12 battle stars, the most by any non-American warship.
NB: The Arthurian Naval Defense Treaty basically vests responsibility for the protection of the territorial waters and other naval operations of the five Arthurian nations in the King's Navy (Æscgeard). In return, the four smaller nations provide funding, manpower, and ships (when budgets allow) to the King's Navy.

Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
Delving back into the history books...
This year the Goths sacked the city of Rome; and never since have the Romans reigned in Arthuria. This was about twelve hundred and seventy winters after it was built. They reigned altogether in Arthuria five hundred and thirty winters since Gaius Julius first sought that land. This year the blessed Abbot Benedict shone in this world, by the splendour of those virtues which the blessed Gregory records in the book of Dialogues. This year came the people of Earcon into Arthuria, with three ships, at the place that is called Frehithe. And Fréawald fought with the Arthins, and put them to flight. This year Elesa fought with the Arthins nigh Burnsted. This year died Wini; and men buried him at Dean. This year Occa began his reign; from whom first arose the royal kindred of the Emnetings. Occa was the son of Eoppa, Eoppa of Alloc, Alloc of Beda, Beda of Baldæg, Baldæg of Baldmund, Baldmund of Friðomod, Friðomod of Friðowulf, Friðowulf of Waldæg, Waldæg of Woden. Occa reigned seven years. He built Aðerton Wells, which was first surrounded with a hedge, and afterwards with a wall. This year Elchhere succeeded to the kingdom; and was king of the men of Sæbeorg thirty-one winters. This year Porta and his two sons, Witta and Octa, came into Arthuria, with two ships, at a place called Portasmouth. They soon landed, and slew on the spot a young Arthin of very high rank. This year St. Benedict, the abbot, father of all the monks, ascended to heaven, and Clovis became king of all Gælla. |

I've done 21 updates so far, only 6 of which have pics from SC4 in them. That must be some sort of record!emperordaniel wrote:I'm sorry joe90 if this is off-topic, but what did you mean by saying your CJ is 'sort of' without pics

Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
This year the sun was eclipsed, fourteen days before the calends of March, from before morning until nine. This year the sun was eclipsed on the twelfth day before the calends of July; and the stars showed themselves full nigh half an hour over nine. This year Sigeric undertook the government of the Æscings; and Æþelhelm, on the death of Beornhelm, that of the Norðengings. Æthelhelm was the son of Beornhelm, Beornhelm of Wulfhelm, Wulfhelm of Wilgar, Wilgar of Wilbald, Wilbald of Wiluald, Wiluald of Westerfælcon, Westerfælcon of Fælcon, Fælcon of Gull, Gull of Sæuald, Sæuald of Sægar, Sægar of Sigeat, Sigeat of Woden, Woden of Friðowulf. This year also Erkenbrand came to the kingdom of the Sæbeorgings, and held it twenty-eight winters. This year Sigeric fought with Cædwalh, and Sigeric was slain. Beorhtric, the brother of Sigeric, pursued him into Sæbeorg and slew Cædwalh and two ealdormen, Ossa and Cned, at Grenfell. This year Elchstan fought with the Arthins at Legerfeld, and took four towns, Lecton, Græbury, Heahbury, and Elsham. And this same year he died. This year began Æþelstan to reign over the Æsc-kin; and he constantly fought and conquered, either with the Middanings, or the Arthins, or the Curths, or the Cathrans. In his days the holy Pope Gregory sent us baptism. That was in the eighteenth year of his reign. He was the son of Beorhtric, Beorhtric of Cuþric, Cuþric of Cuþræd, Cuþræd of Cuþuald, Cuþuald of Æscuine, Æscuine of Æsc, Æsc of Æsca, Æsca of Isel, Isel of Ingild, Ingild of Garwin, Garwin of Fréagar, Fréagar of Fréawin, Fréawin of Frithgar, Frithgar of Woden. In this year Erkenwald, the son of Erkenhelm, was born, who on the six and twentieth year of his reign received the rite of baptism, the first of all the kings in Arthuria. |

Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
Wow. 2 years since I posted anything here....
Oh well, better remedy that
I haven't been idle though! For those that have noticed, there have been updates on ST (here, here, here, and here), but over there they don't seem to take to kindly to all the non-SC4 content I have, so in future they can have the pretty pictures and the rest of the stuff can go here!
There is a fair bit of "rest of the stuff" too, so bear with me...

It's too bad, I've seen your stuff in the "Show Us your Maps" thread too, and you aren't getting enough credit for all the exceptional and professional maps, diagrams, etc. you have showed everyone there.Joe 90 wrote:but over there they don't seem to take to kindly to all the non-SC4 content I have,

First things first - updates
From here:
I changed the war flag to a saltire so it can be restricted to military use without infringing on St. Cerdic's flag and its civilian uses. I've also added Flag Officer's flags since, well, the name does mean something!
From here:
The province of Landracan got a flag update since I never really liked the original:
From here:
Norðanweard also got a flag update. It didn't really need it, but the new one is much cooler :
From here:
Sæbeorg's also got a little touch-up:

Norðanweard also got a flag update. It didn't really need it, but the new one is much cooler :

Sæbeorg's also got a little touch-up:

Wow! Those are nice flags you have there Glad to hear you are posting here again
Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
While I'm on the flag thing...
On all the maps of Arthuria I've done, they always been 'map-bombed'. You know, like that prick who's always half-in every picture you take
Well in Arthuria's case, its the Emerald Isle that was always half-in, half-out. So since I couldn't just get rid of it (imagine... no Guiness...) I extended the map westwards to include all of it.
But I couldn't just let it sit. Despite the fact that this island and its inhabitants don't really bother the Arthurians and vice-versa, I still gave it a bit of a tweak despite the fact nothing really changes from real life. Craig, if he's reading this, might well faint when he realises I'm talking of deiche rather than cúige!
And with more provinces, go more flags
The other notable thing about the map is relative scarcity of reasonable-sized settlements in Arthuria compared with Ivernia, something I'll look to remedy shortly (possibly with your help!)...

Re: Miclian Arþura | Greater Arthuria
Well except for Chuck, I reckon you're all bandwagoners for picking the most successful teams . And yet nobody picked the defending champions in either competition!
OK, football. Seeing as its past midseason, we've already missed the first couple of rounds of the 2013 King's Cup, but they only feature the really low rank teams. So we'll just pick it up in Round 3.
