Re: Ainkien and Nalsa Islands News
Very cool, Nalsa Islands success was probably the surprise of the games - aren't they a tropical island?

Actually, I suppose it would be rather temperate, at the same latitude as Tasmania and New Zealand's South Islands.
I might even take the the liberty to say that it's mountains have snow in winter, too.
At any rate, there are indoor skating facilities.

Ainkien Withdraws from the Alliance of Independent Nations
I didn't come up with a good story or roleplay for this, but R/L issues and commitments here have led me to decide to withdraw from the AIN.

Knarfmo "tweets" about the Hinawa Games
I've started a thread at Simtropolis that contains my thoughts (I'm calling them tweets, but there a bit long for that) about the 10th Simlympics. It is essentially a running commentary on the results with from the Ainkien/Nalsa Islands player's perspective. Feel free to comment there and add your thoughts. Part of the point of my doing this at Simtropolis is to elevate the visibility of the games to the wider community.

ATV Reports Ainkien's First Fencing Medal in Simlympics
"Good Evening. I'm Julia Anniston with ATV news.
Luc Hamid, Ainkienian Fencer and veteran of four Simlympics, has won a bronze medal at the games in Hinawa. This medal, in Epée, is Ainkien's first fencing medal. Hamid had to battle fellow teammate Derek Thompson for the Bronze in the consolation final. Fencing is the only 'heritage sport' identified by the Ainkien Olympic Committee in which Ainkien's mainland team had not won a Simlympic medal. The previous Simlympic champion, the Nalsa Islands, did not have a fencer advance to the quarterfinals."

Re: Ainkien and Nalsa Islands News
Checked your tweets and noticed something about Sarnia Islands. Well, they love fencing there. If you look in the archive you can see they got bronze in April. Sarnia will probably show up in Foil too, but I'm not totally sure until the results come.

Re: Ainkien and Nalsa Islands News
Thanks, Matt. I'll check that out. Overall, I think the Sarnias are doing quite well for a dependency - maybe not reflected by the medals tables yet, but they are doing well for making finals and placing well.

Ainkien's 2010 High School Winter Sports Festival Concludes
The Ainkien High School Activities Association has just concluded its 2010 Winter Sports Festival. The event includes 36 winter sports in skating and skiing events. The ice hockey games had to be condensed to the latter part of the schedule due to the bronze medal success of Ainkien's Under-18 national team at the STIHL championships. Though most of the participants in this event are too young to participate in the Simlympics, some will now make their way to Novland. The athlete creating the most buzz is Citadel Heights High School figure skater Thomas Jones, who one the gold in the high school event and the Ainkien National Men's Individual Figure Skating Championship.
Overall the festival contributed to the widespread sense of anticipation for the pending 2010 Winter Simlympic Games in Skovveien, Novland.
