Day 12 - Pheonoia - SIMplMn9

Here it is....

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Pbc7coverage

(Cue Olympic Theme)

Good Morning, and welcome to the Live Coverage of 2008 Penthesili Simlympic Games Torch Relay. I am Ken Rosato.

And I'm Lauren Glassberg.

And in only a few moment, the Pheonoia leg of the relay will officially start with the handing off the torch at the Gardens of the World Park, in East Paradise Valley.

That's right. Today is a big deal for Pheonoia, as this is the first relay that our nation has been awarded. And after the recent Civil War, and Rhodesia Trial, this is definatly something needed to raise national morale. To mark the occasion, All government offices are closed, except for Capital Hill, which is also suppose to shut for the relay within a few minutes.

Thank you, Lauren, currently the torch, which arrived this morning at Pheonoia International, is currently taking the SpeedyRail to the Gardens, to hand off to the first torch bearer. We are now going to go live as the monorail pulls in, and the final torch bearer of the last leg hands the flame off.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Startofthphonianleg

And there she is, the final torchberar of the last leg, lighting the torch of Roger Steinback, the first Gold Medalist of Pheonoia, and the honorable first torchbearer for this leg of the relay. Pheonoia will be hosting 6 runners for this leg, representing the 6 medals Pheonoia earned at the last Simlympic games. And it looks like the torch is off, to cheering fans.
Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Startoftherace

As you can see he will be taking the Southwest Corner, to head down the aptly named International Avenue away from the Gardens of the World. The Gardens of the World was designed by an Atlantian landscape artist, and was created as a park to clean up the northern part of East Paradise Valley, following the War of Independance. This was all scorched earth before, and now look at that place, Lauren.

Indeed it is nice, Ken, and currently the Paradise Valley city council is in talk on how to improve the area, there are speculations of a theme park, but also rumors that this may turn into a Simlympic park for a future Paradise Valley bid.

Well, only time, and the Pheonoia Olympic Committee, will decide. We will be back for more Coverage after this.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Passthenationalspeedway

Welcome back to live coverage of the Phoenoian Leg of the Simlympic Torch Relay, where the first stop of the leg has been reached. I'm Ken Rosato.

And I'm Laura Glassberg. The first stop, at the National Speedway in East Paradise Valley, is where the torch will be passed from Roger Steinbeck to Sarah Ridle, a champion swimmer from Amagosa, from here she will continue down International Avenue heading for the Jefferson Bridge, where the torch relay will leave East Paradise Valley and enter the Capital District, the governmental head of Phenoia. However, Sarah is not the runner to cross the bridge.

No, she will only take the torch as far as the Paradise Valley National Arena, home to the PV BlueJets. Lets watch as the torch comes down the Avenue.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 StoptoPheonoiaNationalRink

And here the torch will be passed to James Issre, a Pheonoian medalist in Boxing. He really is looking primed to compete this year, deson't he?

He does, and now James will be finishing down International Avenue, and will cross halfway down the Jefferson Bridge. This bridge was built 3 years ago to replace the one that President Gabreles had ordered bombed in order to keep the RNAI from entering the Capital District, and to stop the oncoming navel forces down the Silver River.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 AcrosstheJeffersonBridge

And there he goes, he's crossed the bridge, and will be met halfway by the POC director himself! This is a surprise. Samuel Persi was appointed this position within a month of indepedance, and has been close to retirement at the ripe age of 54, however this is definatly someone who is more of a hands on person.

And from here the torch will be passed on at the One World, One Color monument, and take the long way around the Presidential Park itself. Where they will enter into the park from the back, where Capital Hill is, and this will be the only place the torch will techinically stop.

Thats right, Ken, for traditionally the torch must always stay in motion, so the runner will be jogging in place while he is greeted by the Presdient and the heads of the Senate.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Torchatthecapital

And there is the 4th runner, being hailed on the steps of Captial Hill, where the Senate resides. He will now travel down the park back towards the One World, One Color monument.

Lauren it should be noted that the monument was almost piece by piece replicated back in the Gardens, it just a design that could not be passed up.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 DownthePresidentialPark

There he goes, running the length of the Park itself. The only real shame here is that the 5th Runner, Kevin Osterleeth, has to pass by the former Presidential Hall, which if we remember was burned during the Civil War. And that is just one of charges filed against now disgraced Senator Diane Finstien.

It is a shame, but it should also be noted that Presdient Gabreles actually requested the leg of the Simlympics not be adjusted to avoid the Hall. He said that a true nation is not graded its archetexture, but on its people. And as we see this mass of crowds down the torch path, I can see exactly what he meant by that.

Alright, here we are, the last stretch of the leg, where the final runner, Jake Leslin, the son of the late Senator Leslin, is heading for Shatanoga tower at the end of the Park portion of the Presdiential Park.

Right Laura, the Park actually stretches from the Memorial to the northeast, to this pagoda structure here, and also breaches from the middle Northwest to Southeast as well, criscrossing the Captial District.

Alright, here is lighting the base of the tower, which was refitted for this exact purpose. The flames are lighting in a spiral up the tower...

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Thelittorch

It's lit! This tower will remain lit throughout the games, and just in time too. Now while Leslin prepares to fly to the next country to pass the torch off for the next leg, Paradise Valley will be in celebration until nightfall, where a fireworks display will light the skys, including a spectaculr display over Capital Hill.

This is Laura Glassberg,

And I'm Ken Rosato, thanking you for turning into PBC 7's live coverage of the Phoenoian Leg of the 2008 Penthesili Simlympic Games Torch relay. Join us again on the 24th for the official start of the Simlympics Games, live from Penthesili, only here will you find the Games, on PBC, Pheonoia's number one station. Goodbye.

Day 13 - No Relay Leg Scheduled.

since Slacker and Sim1234 are both on vacation it's time for me to step in for this leg of the torch relay thread. so without further adeau I present the lost Day 16 and today's Day 18
Day 16 - New Castia(Waterfalls) - Pat
Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Animatedlogojf3bf1

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Arrivalzt2

the excitment of the torch coming threw New Castia caused this poor driver to wipe out, gezzs I swear that DOT needs to enforce safety here....

now leaving for the route

Day 18 - Port Matthew - NMUSpidey

THE TORCH RELAY PASSES THROUGH PORT MATTHEW!!!!

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2682551022_e8994bd337_o

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2769841603_ab770662ae_o

So, the torch will pass through East Bank to start, crossing over the Eastern Arch Bridge between Patton Motors HQ and LG (Leugim/Greek) Towers.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2769841715_94c4578088_o
It will continue through Southport between the Matthew Dome and Thunderbolt Stadium, continuing towards Defenders' Square and over Defenders' Bridge (you like how my city has a consistent and coherent naming scheme? Is it a credit to my planning or simply lack of creativity? YOU be the judge!;D).

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2770687682_03a3a57a75_o
The Torch will pass near Defenders' Tower and continue over Shimbashi/ New Crossing on its way back to PMI to move towards the next city. It really doesn't go through the Cliffs neighborhood, I mostly just wanted to show how good it looks with the trees finally added.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2769841799_27178709e1_o
Police Square is cleared early in the morning for the Torch to pass through. Captain Willis and the Power Unit are determined to make it a peaceful celebration!

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2769841851_331a66fba2_o
Past the Matthew Dome (If I knew how to add people in here, there would be a much larger crowd).

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2769841923_d9d2725f63_o
In front of PMTV Studios a crowd is also starting to build! Can you feel the excitement in the air??

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2770688162_a73e6df8b1_o
I debated with myself over posting this image. I decided to in order to find out if my half-dozen readers can answer this question: Does anyone know how to make it so that it's actual concrete or something under the monorail tracks instead of plain grass? It looks a little strange in the middle of downtown...

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 2774262290_28b06f0b9c_o
And here's the route. There was some concern that it was too long and that people would be upset if their workday was disrupted due to the length of road that would be off-limits, but the city as a whole was behind the plan, and the opportunity to see The Defenders running in the flesh would be worth calling a national holiday.

When asked about the opportunity to run with the Torch, Fearless quipped to the press that he was ecstatic about his team being able to participate in the Relay, especially since the Torch's final destination wouldn't be Beijing.

Pierce was heard behind him saying, "Oooo, burn..." in a sarcastic voice.

And finally, here's a new thing I'm going to try:

Day 19-Delkon Forrest-dlrjfn2000
The Torch Relay Comes to the USNSE

After much secrecy about the new Simlympic Park from Delkon Forrest brass it is finally unveiled to the world in the Simlympic Torch Relay

Through an amazing part of luck on my part the torch relay ended for the New Castians at the sea and so it will begin the same for me (no rhyme scheme intended)

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Utopia-Apr9321218652857

The torch relay begins at the Simlympic Park ferry landing.

The first runner is the president of the USNSE himself Michel Fischer signified in red not only the state color of the USNSE but one of the three colors on the logo of the upcoming games. He will head straight west toward the duck pond as its been called in Delkon Forrest. Inside of the duck pond several thousand lights have been placed to shine reflections on top of the water a view point so special to the USNSE symbolic of its past in water. Today 3 logo's appear off the water at the top the Simlympic Torch relay, in the middle the Delkon Forrest Proposal logo and at the bottom the current simlympic logo in congratulations.

The second runner signified in blue a second color on the August Simlympic logo is first Daughter Lauren Fischer. Lauren was in a former rowing champion winning the world championships at 17 just before simlympic trials began. But her father still on the campaign trail at the time and governor of Maine was sitting with his youngest daughter Margret and the son of the Delkon Forrest's Mayor at the Mayoral residence in the north end of Delkon Forrest when they received grim news that the governors limo had been in a car accident as Lauren Fischer, fellow simlympic rower Eliza White and Simlympic Swimmer Alex Brown were on there way home from training at the Delkon Forrest University Gym. Eliza Brown was killed instantly and Lauren was left paralyzed from the waist down and in a coma for several days. She returns to her public life and will carry the simlympic torch with her father past Admrial's stadium.

At the base of route 2 she will hand the torch to Stephanie Pelton the tennis star from the USNSE who the Tennis Stadium just two blocks away is named after. Her route is based in yellow for two reasons, firstly and foremost it is the final color on the August Simlympic logo, and secondly it is Stephanie's favorite color she wore Yellow and used a yellow racket at every match and is seen as her lucky color.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Utopia-Apr9321217033149-1

Stephanie's route will take her up past the National broadcasting Center that will host the Press for the games, and also by the Coca Cola convention center. Once again the Simlympic torch and August Simlympic logo's preside on the buildings.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Utopia-Apr9321217620646

Stephanie's route through the downtown area is once again showed this time highlighting the skyline so rarely shown off by the Delkon Forrest City. Once again the logo of the Simlympic torch can be seen atop the Coca Cola Convention Center and also the keen eye can see the Delkon Forrest logo painted on the side of the National Broadcasting center.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Utopia-Apr9321217033892-1

Once on the other side of route 1 Stephanie will pass the torch to the Delkon Forrest Mayor's son and a shooter expected to do very well in the August Games 17 year old Tomaso Delkon who's great grandfather settled with cousin Adam Petty as the first white residence of the area. (as opposed to Native American's that had been living there before) He will run by the Delkon Forrest Country club and then hand the torch off to an official Simlympic torch official who will drive it to the next city in the relay.

The Delkon Forrest Olympic Committee would also like to point out several things within the shots above.

Simlympic Torch Relay - Page 2 Empty Re: Simlympic Torch Relay

Post by Slacker Sat Aug 23, 2008 11:45 am

Back now! First of all I'd like to say a huge thank you to sim1234 and canuck for posting the updates whilst I was away. They've posted the updates across loads of different websites which would've taken them a long time each day, so I really appreciate it. Thanks guys!

Now, for my impressions on all the amazing updates I missed.

Day 6:
The airship looks awesome, really nice idea and a first for the flame Razz. The sites which the torch past by are really well done as well. All the graphics look fantastic too, I love the flag in the corner of each picture. Great work Very Happy.

Day 7:
Wow, your sports park is amazing, you should bid for the Simlympics Razz. I like the idea of using trains and buses, it looks great. The last few pictures look stunning too, again great graphical work.

Day 8:
Pictures look fantastic as always, I really like the map too; simple but does the job. The boulevard with the flowers in the centre looks really pretty, as do the fireworks at the end. Looking forward to the B&R bid now Very Happy.

Day 10:
Thanks for the history of the Olympic torch really, interesting stuff; especially the information on the torch's beginnings. The pictures look fantastic, I love the crowds along the route. Last picture is amazing, the curved road and the animated screen are so cool!

Day 12:
I love the idea of having the 6 medal winners as the 6 runners! And as I said, that plaza is awesome and I like the way you mixed real life and SC4 pictures too. Also the torch tower at the end looks fantastic next to the coast, good job!

Day 14:
Woah, that's a lot of stadiums! They all blend into their surroundings amazingly though, which is something you don't often see. Interesting take on the torch relay, but I like it Thank you.

Day 15:
The newspaper has a really great layout, something you don't often seen but it's really sweet. The mosaic showing the entire route of the torch relay is a nice idea as well, Seahawksville is a really nice little town Smile.

Day 16:
Oooo, sweet animation at the start, Pat. Hah, a crash... awesome Razz. The route looks really cool, very industrial which is unique for the relay. The dirt track in the last animation is great too, that'd make a great cycling or cross country track.

Day 17:
Hah, that train is awesome! Brilliant idea Very Happy. Fantastic pictures too, I especially like the Spirit Lake Memorial - that's especially well done IMO. The map you created is really cool too, one of the best so far.

Day 18:
I love the bridges over the river, lots of variety! City looks great too, that huge mountain by the river is awesome lol. Regarding your question, you can edit base textures using the Lot Editor however I'm not sure if you can edit mass transit. "since the Torch's final destination wouldn't be Beijing" hah, nice Razz. Also, wow at the last picture - huuge.

Day 19:
Oo, nice Simlympic Park - maybe add a few trees though? But great nevertheless, a perfect amount of stadiums in there. Delkon Forrest looks great too, very forresty lol. Good job with your leg of the relay Smile.

Day 20:
Great route GreekMan, goes right through the city - sweet. I really like the Cambridge area, looks very realistic, as does the university. Becon Hill is a great landmark too, nice to see the torch go past it! Looking forward to your bid Very Happy.

Day 21:
Wow, that video is amazing. The music fits really well and I love all the venues and places the torch passes, also the pictures of athletes is a great touch (Love the fact most of them are British Razz).

A huge thank you to everyone whos posted an update so far, I'm seriously blown away by how incredible they all are. Thank you so much guys Very Happy.

Really beautiful ES! I love all the crowds and flags, that must've taken quite a while in the LE. The botanical gardens look fantastic and the stadium is pretty epic too. You should bid again Razz.
