Portage Des Sioux Iowa
Background: This is my second cj, however it is my first on SimSports. I will try to follow my CJ on simtropolis but some things may change. Portage Des Sioux is fictional city in a real location so somethings are real and some fake. So enjoy Portage Des Sioux Iowa.
History: Coming Soon
Transportation: Like anyother metro area transportation is a key feature. Amtrak and Via Rail operate local service in the area, as well as to other cities like the Quad Cities, Chicago, St. Louis, and Mineappolis. If you are flying into our beautiful city Marquette International Airport was built in April 2009, and is located just west of downtown, Evergreen Park Airstrip is located in the suburb of Evergreen Park about 30 minutes away from downtown by car. If you live in the area you can either drive through heavy traffic or take the PDST (Portage Des Sioux Transportation) which operates extensive bus and metrorail service in the metro area. 5 main metrorail Lines take passengers to virtually anywhere in the metro area, they are: Blue Line (Main Line) Red Line (Industrial Line) Purple Line (Evergreen Park Connection), Yellow Line (Oquakawa Connection), and Green Line (Downtown Loop). I-174 runs east-west through the metro area and conects to I-74 east of the metro area, and I-274 is the beltway around the city, plans to connect I-174 and I-380 are being looked at. All frieght service is handled by CSX, BNSF, and NS railroads.
A fright train heads through the eastern industrial area, towards the suburb of Kings City.
Sports: Sports are very popular in Portage Des Sioux, whether teams are on top or in last place fans flock to see thier hometown stars. Today we will look at some of the major league teams and stadiums.
Centennial Bank Centre:
built: early 2002
venue type: Indoor Arena
teams:
-Portage Des Sioux Thunder Lacrosse- STLL
-Portage Des Sioux Rivermen Hockey- STHL
The Centennial Bank Centre in Portage Des Sioux
Sim Cellular Stadium:
built: Febuary 2009
venue type: Outdoor Baseball Stadium
teams: Portage Des Sioux Catfish- SLB
The Sim Cellular Stadium sits right on the riverfront in the Stadium District of Downtown.
Education: Education is very important in Portage Des Sioux, schools strive to make the students better in not only thier lessons, but in life too. Today we will look at one of two major universities in the area.
University of Eastern Iowa:
A university that loves sports, its teams are all in D1 NCAA leagues. The Fighting Frogs hockey, football and baseball teams are some of the best in the region. The Universityis a great place to attend academically as well. The school is a great place to earn a degree in engineering, communications, and sports management.

Re: Portage Des Sioux Iowa
It looks nice.
Let me recommend that, before you take snapshots, try to remember to turn off grid by pressing "G".
And I believe that, if you download more BATs, I'm sure your CJ will look much more beautiful.

Re: Portage Des Sioux Iowa
Aranho- yeah I've been told to turn off the grid before, (I like it when I lay out my zones, and roads. Then when I go to take a picture I forget to turn it off. As for BATs I have a bunch, but i mostly download ones for transportation.
Re: Portage Des Sioux Iowa
Ok cool. I also have a same habit of yours of turning on Grid and forgetting to turn them off during the snapshot sessions.
As for the BATs, try to download more variety of buildings. What type of buildings you want is your choice, but I usually go for the high-rise.
Anyway, good luck in your CJ. I'm sure you will improve overtime. Keep up the good work!

Re: Portage Des Sioux Iowa
Download SG's Stuff, and maybe have an oldtimey suburb with JBSimio and Spa's stuff.
Re: Portage Des Sioux Iowa
I have some time to update now, it will be awhile until the next update as I'm back in school Anyway today we continue looking at the suburbs.
Glen Ellen is right in the middle of Kings City and Evergreen Park. The PDST Oquawka Connection makes one stop in the dirty industrial area of the city. Again the suburban nieghborhoods are very common in Glen Ellen, along with a small but busy downtown.
Downtown Glen Ellen, the Evergreen tollway can be seen in the pic.
Sprawling suburban nieghborhoods are common like the surrounding suburbs.
Don't worry I'm getting more BATs.
