Day One (Opening Ceremony)

THE MARCH 2007 SIMLYMPICS HOSTED BY AVERY!!!

NBC has won the bid to televise the third Simlypiad in Avery. Their beautiful HD chopper has taken some marvelous angles and shots of the opening ceremonies!

Here we have the torch making it way to it's final resting spot in Olympic Village where the Olympic Torch will be lite in a few minutes. You can see on of Avery's great athletes from the Century, Ali Mohammed, running the last lap to officially lite the torch. Can you spot him?



As Ali Mohammed runs up the steps to lite the torch the crowd goes insane with cheers! And flawlessly the torch ignites illuminating the beautiful crisp night to mark the beginning of to be a memorable Simlypics!!



Tens of thousands of sims gathered into Bank of America Stadium to kick off the night of festivites and opening ceremonies. Represenatives from regions all over Simtropolis have came to represent their Regions. Shhh.... here comes the athletes of Dunstonville now.



How marvelous this night is going!! Everything is going so smoothly, and then....

A LOUD BANG!!

Followed by another, and another. Piercing sounds and bangs going off one after the other, followed by the lights in the Stadium shutting off. Panic strikes the crowd!!
To the amazement of the spectators, it turns out it was just the fireworks malfunctioning a little bit early!!



Illuminating the night sky with colors, the firework show goes on for 30 straight minutes. The best the Region of Avery has ever witnessed. Pyrotechnicians from India where flown in to do this job, and how beautiful it turned out, despit the malfunction which almost caused wide spread panic!



OO's and AAh's filled the stadium all night. Then all of a sudden it was time for the grand finale for the firework show... and smoked filled the air.....



The crowd sat patiently, waiting for the lights to turn back and wondered if this was the end of the festivities for the night. Just as the crowd was ready to disperse, they were treated with a one of a kind lazer light show to cap off the night!!
