Day 0 - Opening Ceremony
Anne : Good evening to everyone. You are now watching the live broadcast of the Opening Ceremony of the 12th Simlympiad, here in Sarnia City. I am Anne White.
Paul : And I am Paul Walker. Good evening !
Anne : The Ceremony is scheduled to start at 20:30 local time.
Paul : That means we are 2 minutes away from the start ! Aren't you excited ?
Anne : Of course I am, Paul. I really wonder how will it be.
Paul : Time for the official countdown ! 30 more seconds.
Anne : Wow ! Nice fireworks. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Paul : Indeed, Anne. Time for the artistic part of the OC.
Anne : How beautiful ! The history of Tongolia and Sarnia is now shown on the floor of the stadium.
Paul : What a great moment.
Anne : Very original.
Anne : Amazing so far. What next ? I'm really curious.
Paul : Wow. A big yellow globe.
Anne : And people moving round it.
Paul : Spectacular. It probably required a lot of training.
Anne : Wait ! They are all having pictures of children.
Paul : Let's hope everybody understands the message to celebrate peace and diversity.
Paul : Now all the people gather around that big piano.
Anne : They are playing "God bless Tongolians", a popular national song.
Paul : I do love that song.
Anne : Proud to be a Tongolian.
Anne : And that marks the end of the artistic part. How nice it was !
Paul : True. Time to move on, though.
Anne : Stay tuned ! There's more to come !
Paul : The flags of New Rhodesia and Tongolia are now entering the stadium.
Anne : New Rhodesia was the first host of the Simlympic Games, Tongolia being the last yet.
STADIUM ANNOUCER(Tongolian) : Doamnelor şi domnilor, vă rugăm să vă ridicaţi pentru imnurile Tongoliei şi ale Noii Rhodesii.
STADIUM ANNOUCER(English) : Ladies and gentleman, please stand for the national anthems of Tongolia and New Rhodesia.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(Tongolian) : Doamnelor şi domnilor, vă rugăm să vă ridicaţi pentru Imnul Simlimpic.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(English) : Ladies and gentleman, please stand for the Simlympic Anthem.
Paul : Never thought this part of the ceremony could be that great.
Anne : Ah. It fills me up with national pride.
Paul : What's up next ?
Anne : The classic parade of nations, starting with New Rhodesia and ending with...
Paul : Tongolia !
Anne : All the athletes are now in the stadium.
Paul : Mike Slacker is now coming on the that big stage.
Anne : Time for the speech.
Paul : I really wonder what will he say.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(Tongolian) : Doamnelor şi domnilor, preşedintele Comitetului Internaţional Simlimpic, Mike Slacker.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(English) : Ladies and gentleman, the president of the International Simlympic Comitee, Mike Slacker.
Mike Slacker, President of the ISC wrote:
Thank You Sarnia! It's my pleasure to be here tonight, to welcome you to this wonderful city and to open the 12th Simlympic Games.
May I start by saying thank you to the organisers of these games for putting on just a remarkable show tonight. We've seen breath-taking fireworks, wonderful performances and spectacular music and I'm sure you'll agree, it's been a thoroughly enjoyable and fantastically appropriate way of starting off what promises to be a memorable two weeks.
The world's greatest sports men and women have gathered here, many thousands of them stand below me in this very stadium, to compete not just for themselves, not just for their country, not just for their love of their chosen discipline, but for the Simlympic dream. The dream that together, through sport, we can build a better world.
And with that, I can hereby declare open the games of the XII Simlympiad, in May 10, hosted by Sarnia City.
Anne : What a great speech.
Paul : You're right.
Anne : We're approaching the end of the ceremony. Isn't that sad ?
Paul : Yes, it is. I really enjoyed it. But it's not yet over.
Anne : Next on the list...The oaths.
Paul : Erica Brown, gold medalist in Leah, will take the Atheletes Oath.
Anne : While Mario Balasck, a football referee, will take Judges Oath.
Erica Brown wrote:In the name of all competitors I promise that we shall compete in these games respecting and o biding by the rules which govern in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Mario Balasck wrote:In the name of all judges I promise that we shall officiate with complete impartiality respecting and o biding by the rules which govern in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Paul : We're now at the last part of the Opening Ceremony.
Anne : The Flame !
Paul : It came to Tongolia this morning from East Rockcoast.
Anne : How do you think will be the final torch bearer ?
Paul : Really not sure.
Anne : Me eighter. Let's just wait and see.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(Tongolian) : Doamnelor şi domnilor, Flacăra Simlimpică.
STADIUM ANNOUNCER(English) : Ladies and gentleman, the Simlympic Flame !
Anne : The Flame enters the stadium...
Paul : Carried by Richard Webman, a popular soccer player.
Anne : He then turns back to the Torch Tower and passes the Flame to Inna Goddard, bronze medalist for Tongolia in Ylmeria.
Paul : And the final torch bearer...
Anne : Gregory Moss ! Twice Simlympic gold medalist in Hinawa and Leah.
Paul : Mesmerizing ceremony. Wasn't it awesome ?
Anne : Yes, Paul. Can't believe it just ended.
Paul : Don't be sad. There's plenty more to come. Tomorrow is the first day of competition, so stay tuned on TVT.
Anne : We're Anne White...
Paul : And Paul Walker
Anne : Good night and see you next day.
*Special thanks to Dot.

This might be the greatest opening ceremony I have seen! Only one thing, the Cultan Republic apparently wasn't in the parade... Oh well, this was still phenomenal! You should be pround! :)

Re: Day 0 - Opening Ceremony
Matt: I would have thought so, I was in the winter games and I was on the P.A.S. and my P.A.S. was mailed in long ago. It's not that big of a deal, don't stress it.

We only have Cultan Republic signed up for the winter games. Did you submit a PAS form for the Sarnia games?
