SimCity Basketball Association

So I posted a thread over at Simtropolis (to no avail) & Sim Mania (to some avail) in hopes of creating a new basketball league, and I'd love to extend the invitation to Sim Sportians.

Alright, alright, so I've started various sports leagues in the past, to various degrees of success, but never a basketball league before. Since basketball season has just started, I figure we could start one of our own!

So, I'll simulate basketball games between all the different teams in our league, just like any other league. We'll have playoffs and a championship, and we may even do an All-Star where you guys pick the lineups!!

The simulation will be done in NBA 2k13 with NBA teams, you'll use their roster. See the form for details on the logo for your team. Fill out the form below if you have any interest in having your SC4 city in a professional basketball league. You can have up to three teams in the league!!

More or less, just choose an NBA team to represent your city, and I'll sim games, and post stats, pics, and maybe even highlight reels!

I selected the Charlotte Bobcats for my team, but I don't think anyone would mind, as they were the worst NBA team ever last season.

I don't have a deadline for signup; it'll just depend on how fast we get people. Either way, I'll give you guys some advanced notice if the league starts filling up quickly.

If the logo of your team has the name of NBA city on it, and you want a logo without the city name, go to sportslogos.net/teams/list_by_league/6/, and choose a logo for your team without the name, and post the link here. Since I can't post links, just copy and paste into your browser. You can use any logo or alternate logo that's on the site; they have them all! Also, you can use one of your own, however, just make sure the dimensions are close to a square.

Well, I guess we were in need of a logo... I'm not really sure what else yet, this is my first basketball league.

Also, the team list is being updated; we have some new teams from Sim Mania!

Okay, awesome.

Seeing as we have 14 teams, I think we can go ahead and set a deadline for this Tuesday, November 18th at 11:59 EDT.

After that, we'll go ahead and get started. If no more teams signed up, we'd have two conferences of six, and two divisions to a conference.

However, we need to ask a few questions for you users to answer about the season!

Questions:
- How many games should be played in a season?
- How many teams should go to the playoffs?

I think that each team should play each other twice in the competition.
Maybe the top four teams could go to the finals?

That's definitely a possibility! The only other ways I can think to do it would be to have six teams (4 division winners and 2 wildcard teams [3 from each conference].

Then, the number 1 and 2 seeds could get first-round byes. This is similar to how the NFL does its playoff system.

And, the last option would be to have 8 teams.

I don't know about Wild Card teams but that could work. I think that we shouldn't have divisions just two conferences of 7. Yes, I agree that top teams get first round byes (Its like that in the Super Rugby Competition)
8 teams mean that only 3 teams from each conference would miss out...

I think 8 teams is what we should do, as well as two conferences of seven.

I'm going to post a link to the schedule tonight! It will be in a Microsoft Excel file. Also, if any of you guys want schedules for your respective teams, I can PM those to you, as well. See me a PM if you want 'em.

I now have the master schedule ready for everyone!! Each team plays every other team 2 times, for a total of 26 games.

Games will begin Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 in the order they appear on the schedule!

I think what I am going to do is at the start of each week, post a weekly schedule of the games that will be played during that week and on what days. What I'm thinking is that results will come either that night or the day after. For example, the schedule for this week would be:

Just at the respective arenas of the home teams.
