For those new here
The Challenge Shield is Rorysville's Premiere Football Tournament. 8 of the 12 States Qualify for the Shield and battle for supremacy. Much like the State of Origin in Australia the Teams are made up of Players representing the State they were born in. For Shields Past(09,10) look back through here. The Shield has drawn international Interest as the Group Stages get TV Coverage in RV(RVAC,MSN,Armed Forces Net),USA(FOX Soccer),Canada(Setanta),Australia(Setanta),Scotland(Sky) and the Knockout Stages get televised in RV,USA,Canada,Australia,UK,Venray among others who pick up the Shield Final

Day 3 Sees a return to Pool B as Inverness marks their official return with an Islander Clash. Today's game takes us to a neighborhood in Southern York known as "The Point"

And Day 4 Brings us the the North Bay. Bayside Field is located next to the Stardust Casino on the Yorkshire Penisula this narrow strip of land that juts out separates the Pacific from Yorkshire Bay.The final 2 to play kick off as Polaris and the Douglas Islands face off.

On Sunday's (and Wednesday's(except the opener)) The Shield shifts to daylight!

We return to Downtown York and University field for today's match. As Inverness and Northlands play their second games and re-new a once fierce rivalry. University Field may seem familiar to some of you as it was the great Simlympic Oval in the First Winter Games.

also today York hosted an open practice at Coastal Winds Field the practice had filled the small stadium


and After the Game and Practice Downtown York's Capital Plaza hosted a show that ran from 5pm till 11pm

Also, kudos to making that first stadium look good, whenever I try to put it somewhere it looks like crap, sort of like a HSR turn that was too sharp in that same picture

K50-I dunno where I found that it is a simple bandshell that I put a pair of down with some small plaza's(maxis ones at that) I also PSed in that stage clutter lol

Day 6 of the Shield!
As we enter Day 6 we will now have seen all 6 of the venues in this year's shield(note there is no set limit on venues used in a shield, the average shield will use 4-6(RV and Marceau have used 10 in the past)).

Today's day saw a record high in York at 38C(101F) this Heat was unexpected and also brought a major storm with it at night. Tonight's game was played in heavy rain at times. As a result Yorkshire Coliseum's pitch took a beating

mayorm-Thanks the Shield is RV's largest sporting event every year draws huge attendance and ratings and even forces 2 leagues to not play on the day of the final.

Day 7!
We are officially halfway through the shield so as the second half starts we start to see how things shake out. Rorysville enters today's game in a rare position 2nd place. The crowds continue to flock to York from all over. Tonight's matchup is between Rorysville and Lacroix from GYP Energy Field in North York.

Rorysville never took it's foot off the throat of Lacroix as it went for the kill 5-1.

On Sunday's and Wednesdays The shield shifts to a matinee match. The hosts are at it for their second match and looking to earn some respect in the Prelims.

After a couple days with rain and clouds we finally got nice weather and lower temps!

Shield Match Day 9

As we enter Day 9 2 teams in Pool B wrap up their Preliminary Round Play For Lacroix at stake is not finishing in Last place of Pool B. For Northlands a shot at the #2 seed in B is still there with a win. We return to the Point and South York.

Lacroix Islands Will face the #1 Seed in Pool A-August 16th-Bayside Field(Quarterfinal #1)

great updates Canuck, some eliminations are starting to be made

Well no official Eliminations yet as all 8 get into the Quarterfinals under the current structure. Next year the Shield shifts to a new system where the top 3 qualify for the playoffs. The Shield Committee meets every 3 years to decide and vote on Rule Changes the current setup has been in place for 35 years so the change was met with some skepticism.

Stay tuned tonight as Matchday 10 will see Marceau and the Douglas Islands wrap up Pool Play from York Coliseum.

Shield Match Day 10

Day 10 only a couple days of preliminary action left. As the weather continues to stay great the damage to the Coliseums pitch shows it's ugly head. The Pitch will be re-sodded after today's game in time for the Quarterfinal match on August 16th. At stake in today's game? Marceau needs a win to stay in contention of the 1st seed at worst they end up 2nd with a win. Douglas Islands need a win for a chance at the 2nd seed.
