Re: Yorke 2010 - Dare to Dream
The Athlete's Village has been completely redesigned. The country club was moved to the other side of the road (the one in the top left of the picture with the tram tracks) and the capacity of the village was dramatically increased.

News from the organising committee:
Without releasing any names, the ASC and YOCSG has announced that the opening ceremony will feature some of the biggest acts in the world. One has been described as a "superstar." Several acts have already confirmed their availability and Yorke's 101.9 Bay FM has confirmed they will broadcast the entire opening ceremony live and commercial free.

Not to blow my own horn, but it's gonna be fantastic. *picks up own horn and blows*
Not to blow my horn..... but I have a similar, if not more in-depth plan well into the works in Perthshire for around the same time bidding.
This should be interesting

A new indoor arena has been built to replace the rather low capacity sports centre. In order to make room for it, WaterWorks has been moved to the other side of town near the fairground and concert ground.

Re: Yorke 2010 - Dare to Dream
Thanks! Since I posted these pics I've added proper parking lots to the venues. Olympic Park also has a new, large parking lot - I had to divert the railway line to fit it in.

Yorke Railway Station has been upgraded. Two new platforms added, allowing for greater capacity and smoother operations:
MetroCorp unveils new EuroTram to replace the 40-year-old single car trams. Yorke is the first city to have its entire fleet replaced:

Re: Yorke 2010 - Dare to Dream
Thanks, Peter! I probably shouldn't admit this, but it was coincidence. They built that themselves, so I marked it "historic" so it would remain.

Re: Yorke 2010 - Dare to Dream
The old regatta centre has been demolished as it was woefully small. An new artificial lake has since been built in Stancroft to accommodate the rowing and kayaking. In order that the small town of Stancroft was not cut off, the railway line had to be diverted. The new lake is temporary and will be drained at the conclusion of the games and the landscape restored.
The new artificial lake stretches for 2.2Km
The starting line with room for 10 boats
The lake stretches past the small town of Stancroft
The finish line near the bridge into Redding
The Whitewater Stadium remains in Point Alesford
