Torch Relay - Day 23 - Italy

Here is the report of the Simlympic torch's passage in Italy happened yesterday 12/08/2008.

This is the route that the Simlympic Torch will follow in our nation:

The torch arrived in yesterday's early morning at the International Airport of Fiumicino (Rome) with an Olympic Airlines flight.
The first torch in Italian soil was lit at 8:37 am just outside the plane,the first runner was Stefano Baldini: Olympic gold in
marathon at Athens2004.

In a crowded St Peter's Square, the torch has received a special blessing from the Christian's spiritual patriarch Benedict XVI, who called that these were games of peace and prosperity, bring unity among peoples of different faiths.

Then the torch leave Rome in a special Minuetto Train at 11:45pm, after two hours of trip the torch will arrive in Alameda.

At 13:50pm the torch finally arrives to Alameda Oldsgate Station.
